Red Hot Chili Peppers Will Honor Neil Young
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are getting amped up about their scheduled performance early next year when they play a tribute to singer/songwriter Neil Young. The legend will be honored as the 2010 MusicCares Person of the Year and will take place in Los Angeles on Jan. 29.
In addition, the Peppers, who are coming off of an extended hiatus are currently working on their 10th studio album, which also happens to be their first effort since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. The MusiCares event will also feature some other well-known artists like Wilco, the Dave Matthews, Jackson Brown and Young’s bandmates, Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Georgia Jagger Turns to Schoolwork
Georgia Jagger has emerged as the new face of several big fashion brands, like Hudson Jeans and Versace…but now the 17-year-old model wants to concentrate on her studies. Her agent Tori Edwards said, “Georgia won’t be shooting anything else for the rest of the year. I’ve known her since she was a little girl and school has always been her number one priority. She is studying for her A-levels just now, so she has a lot of coursework, and until she is 18 she will just be focusing on that.” Georgia was excited however, about her photoshoot with world famous photographer Mario Testino for the Italian fashion house Versace, currently run by Donatella Versace.
Keep an eye out for Georgia when she gets back into the modelling scene next year. In the meantime…check out her dad and the rest of the Stones by going to StubHub and getting your own pair of Rolling Stones tickets!
Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea Makes Cameo on Slash’s Upcoming Album
Guns N’Roses guitarist Slash is releasing a new album titled Slash and Friends in 2010, and the record will feature cameos by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Dave Grohl and Alice Cooper, reports Spinner.com. Although there has yet to be official word on whether or not Slash’s new version of his former band’s classic song “Paradise City” will appear on Slash and Friends, the rocker has come under fire for featuring Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas on the track. The pop singer is joined by Cypress Hill on the brand new rendition of “Paradise City,” which will arrive as a B-side on the Japanese edition of Slash’s brand-new single “Sahara.”
In spite of criticisms, Slash has defended his decision to enlist Fergie to contribute vocals to the track and even took to his Twitter account to respond to nay-sayers. “Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing rock & roll but she sings it better than most dudes I know. She’s a screamer at heart,” tweeted Slash.

Anthony Kiedis’ Tale of Sobriety
Many rock and roll stars have struggled publicly and privately with drug/alcohol addiction. One such instance was with the frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis. The rocker started doing drugs when he was just 12-years-old, mainly because of his father, Blackie Dammet was a drug supplier to many celebrities and rock ‘n’ roll stars during the 1970s. Kiedis managed to clean up his act after the original Chili Peppers’ guitarist overdosed in 1988. He fell back into a drug-infused lifestyle again, shortly afterward and aimed to stay clean again starting in 2000. He has noted that he’s been sober since then.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been laying low lately and have been enjoying their extended hiatus after the release of the double disc set Stadium Arcadium. They have announced that they have been collaborating in the studio recently.

Everyone is Ready for Red Hot Chili Peppers Comeback Concert!
For Chili Peppers fans, the news that the band is going to perform a comeback concert on Jan. 29, is somewhat like an early Christmas present! The rockers went on an extensive break in 2008 after 25 years together, but they have promised to play the charity concert MusiCares concert honoring singing legend Neil Young.
In May 2008, Anthony Kiedis announced that the band was taking a break of “at least a year.” He elaborated when he said, “We’re disbanded for the moment. We actually took a very long time to make the Stadium Arcadium record…it took forever. It was really a grueling, long haul and it followed two other very long hauls Californication and By the Way.”
The band members returned to the studio last month to start writing and recording material for a follow-up to Stadium Arcadium, there is no release date officially set yet.

Red Hot Chili Peppers on Board for Comeback Show
The Red Hot Chili Peppers appear to be back in the game. The popular funk/rock band has officially announced a gig set for January 29 at MusiCares. The future performance will be their first collaboration onstage since they took an extended hiatus after the release of their double disc album, Stadium Arcadium. The group will play alongside Wilco, Norah Jones and James Taylor, as all of the musicians pay tribute to recording artist Neil Young. Since their hiatus, the individual group members have been concentrating on their own specific musical projects. Chad Smith joined with Chickenfoot and released an independent album called Meet the Meatbats and Flea joined Thom Yorke’s supergroup.

Chili Peppers’ Music a Good Learning Tool
This is surely a good reason to NOT skip class: a music seminar with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. The acclaimed musician founded the non-profit Silverlake Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. Flea, along with his childhood friend Tree (yes, it’s bizarre) founded the organization together and the latter serves as the school’s dean. The two were apparently band geeks in junior high and high school. Flea reflects on his own high school days with CNN, “In high school and after high school, I was heading for disaster. I was on drugs; I was robbing people’s houses; I was wild on the street. But lucky enough, through the public school system, I had been able to have some music education, and that gave me something to focus on, and discipline - like a family to feel part of. There was a healthy family.” It was the building blocks of a successful career in music for Michael Peter Balzary. Find out more about Silverlake Conservatory of Music tomorrow!

Everyone Excited For New Chili Peppers Album
Ever since word broke that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be collaborating on a new album, fans have been anxiously awaiting word on when it might be available for purchase. A release date has sort of been confirmed by drummer Chad Smith, when he said that the follow-up to 2006’s Stadium Arcadium could very well be released by October 2010. Smith talked to Billboard.com, saying, “It’ll be two years in September, so now we’re ready. You can’t force people to play when they don’t want to or aren’t ready to play or whatever - not in our band, anyway.” So yes, it looks like we will have to wait another year before we can get our hands on new Chili Peppers material, but rest assured…it is coming.
