Pearl Jam…Older…But Still the “Better” Men
Pearl Jam first toured through Australia in 1995 and fans were literally beside themselves with energy and excitement. The era of grunge rock was upon us and Pearl Jam had emerged as one of the most influential and vital bands in the world. Nearly 15 years later, the band is still performing. The members are getting older, there are shades of grey in their hair…but Pearl Jam still elicits that same energy and excitement that they did when they first appeared on the music scene. Pearl Jam performed last night at the Etihad Stadium in front of about 45,000 screaming fans.
Pearl Jam released Back-spacer earlier this year, and it is already being hailed as their best effort in a decade.

Will Pearl Jam Play Bonnaroo in 2010?
The concert is still more than six months away, but music fans are already lining up to get a glimpse of the 2010 Bonnaroo music festival, which annually boasts some of the hottest bands in the nation onstage at the 700-acre Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee. Bonnaroo 2010 won’t take place until next June 10-13, but news of the three-day extravaganza is already traveling fast, especially as holiday pre-sale tickets to the 2010 gala will be for sale starting next Friday, Nov. 27.
Bands and artists playing next year’s Bonnaroo music festival won’t be announced until late January or early February, but those wishing to get a jumpstart on the rest can snag tickets to the 2010 Bonnaroo music fest at the end of this month – Pearl Jam fans included. Pearl Jam has been one of the featured bands at past Bonnaroos, last seen on the Which Stage in 2008, and perhaps the new Backspacer album will light a fire under Pearl Jam, leading them back to Manchester for the 2010 Bonnaroo. Those who wish to have a shot at catching Pearl Jam live in Tennessee at the Midwest’s biggest music festival of the year can do so with pre-sale tickets to next year’s Bonnaroo, on sale next week!

Pearl Jam’s “Just Breathe” Available Online and in iTunes
Pearl Jam’s Austin City Limits performance airs next week on Saturday, November 21. “Just Breathe” is the group’s latest video and has made a splash with fans. And their newest album, Backspacer, has done remarkably well on the charts. The band has managed to maintain a strong presence on the music scene over the years, but they haven’t enjoyed a number one in about 13 years. The last time that Pearl Jam reached the top of the Billboard Top 200 was in 1996, when “No Code” debuted at #1. Part of the reason for their success could have to do with the return of their longtime producer Brendan O’Brien. Or perhaps it is because of their exclusive deal with Target stores. Either way, Pearl Jam fans are stoked to have their band high on the charts!

Pearl Jam vs. Bon Jovi: Battle of the Bands
Pearl Jam and Bon Jovi are two very different bands, but they both boast large and devoted fan bases. Their new singles, however seem to have a lot more in common when we go in for a second look. Pearl Jam is just out with a brand new ballad called “Just Breathe,” which is a soft, almost emotional tune, while Bon Jovi let loose the song “When We Were Beautiful” off of their The Circle soundtrack. The question is: which ballad do you think is better? It’s certainly a tough call…and in a way they both have many similarities to each other. The mellow sounds from both “Just Breathe” and “When We Were Beautiful” are likely to make you want to turn your radio up high!

Pearl Jam Mocks Britney For Lip Syncing Stint
Pearl Jam just recently kicked off their Australian tour with a cool performance in Perth and you can bet that there was no lip syncing involved. Pearl Jam started their Australian stint just a week after Britney Spears started hers at the Burswood Dome. Eddie Vedder apparently referred to the Spears controversy by telling the crowd at Member’s Equity Stadium last night that he would also be lip-syncing. Vedder, full of sarcasm, noted that he would be pretending to sing so that he could down some good wine and have a smoke. Vedder, also speaking to the crowd, said that Western Australia was among the band’s favorite stops, with other members tackling the cool waves at Scarborough Beach before hopping onstage.
You can bet that Pearl Jam will not be lip syncing at any of their concerts! Check them out live by going to StubHub and getting your own pair of Pearl Jam tickets.
Pearl Jam’s Austin City Limits Performance
The Pearl Jam Austin City Limits performance is set to air on Nov. 21. Make sure to tune in for this celebrated performance and for more information check out austincitylimits.org. The Seattle band has been busy lately, closing out stadiums and entertaining large crowds of fans. They are next headed to the South Pacific where they will be performing a series of dates in both Australia and New Zealand.
Pearl Jam has managed to withstand the test of time and has carried the grunge genre to the present day. While other bands from previous eras have not been so fortunate, Pearl Jam has thrived and succeeded in recent years. Make sure to catch them when they perform next in a city near you. You Got Rickrolled by Pearl Jam
Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard apparently “Rickrolled” the internet by performing a cover of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Gossard’s cover of the ‘80s track was uploaded to Pearl Jam’s YouTube account on Monday, Nov. 9. Gossard’s cover is actually pretty good and the video clearly shows the guitarist is enjoying his joke. Pearl Jam are performing a few dates in support of this year’s Backspacer:
Nov. 14: Perth, Australia at the Members Equity Stadium
Nov. 17: Adelaide, Australia at the Adelaide Oval
Nov. 20: Melbourne, Australia at the Etihad Stadium
Nov. 22: Sydney, Australia at the Sydney Football Stadium
Nov. 25: Brisbane, Australia at the QSAC Stadium
Nov. 27: Auckland, New Zealand at the Mt Smart Stadium
Nov. 29: Christchurch, New Zealand at the AMI Stadium

Everyone Still Talking About the Spectrum Closer
The Spectrum enjoyed a long list of “goodbye concerts” before it officially wrapped things up with a stunning performance from Pearl Jam. At one point Mike McCready took to the stage, being showered with red, white and blue confetti and wrenched out the “Star Spangled Banner” from his guitar. It was a fitting ending for the Spectrum, which is ready to close after 42 years. The soul survivors of the grunge scene gave fans a reason to cheer as they performed some of their classic ballads, completely decked out in Halloween gear. They also tried out covers of various songs like “Whip It” and “Crown of Thomas.” The crowd was clearly enthralled…this was the concert to end on. It comes as no doubt then, that Philadelphia’s Wachovia Spectrum did, in fact, go out with a bang and the best band.

Pearl Jam a Hit at the Wachovia Spectrum in Philly
The rockers of Pearl Jam made quite the concert splash at the Wachovia Spectrum in Philadelphia on Saturday. The band played the fourth of four shows at the venue, and they really stirred things up with a 41-song set. Pearl Jam offered audience members a real treat when, during the second encore, all of the band members re-emerged decked out in the Halloween spirit, dressed in full Devo costumes. They even performed a flawless version of the song “Whip It.” Pearl Jam performed a few rarities that evening, but also returned to some of their classics, like “Corduroy,” “Even Flow,” “Jeremy,” “Porch” and “Alive.” Other memorable tunes that really got the crowd excited were “Eldery Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town,” “Black” and “Better Man.”
Pearl Jam always manages to rock out on stage, be sure to visit StubHub and get your Pearl Jam tickets as soon as possible.
Spectrum Seats to go on Sale
Although a seat to see the last Bruce Springsteen concert at the soon-to-be-demolished Spectrum in Philadelphia started at $101 and a seat to see the final Pearl Jam concert at the legendary venue ran for $77, fans can now get a priceless memento from the Spectrum: an actual seat. Although not completely priceless, the seats coast $295 for one or $395 for a pair, the memento will allow fans to relive their memories of seeing the Boss and Pearl Jam. According to the Lehigh Valley Music Blog, fans can also purchase a folding chair for $195, a 3-inch-by-inch piece of the basketball court for $76 or a 10-inch-by-10-inch piece for $176.
The 42-year-old venue, located on Broad Street in Philadelphia, is set to be demolished next spring, with a retail center called PhillyLive being built in its place. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the pieces of the Spectrum will benefit the Comcast-Spectator Foundation, which is the charitable wing of the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectator. Said Comcast-Spectator Chairman Ed Snider, “The Spectrum is a very special place for so many millions of people. I know how passionate people are about the Spectrum and we’re excited to offer our fans a chance to now own Spectrum seats.”
