Buble’s Defending Britney Spears

Michael Buble is getting in the spotlight - for talking about Britney Spears. Talking to the press about the recent Australian slam that Spears went through when she lip-synched her concert there, he said: “You’d think she killed someone,” he said to Melbourne’s Herald Sun as reported by People. “Okay, she lip- synchs her show, people know that, they make the decision if they want to go and see her do that. Does she deserve the way she’s been completely bashed by the media here? No.” The Spears report that included fans walked out of the concert sparked one word from Buble: “nasty.” Including his typical sarcasm, he said: “Mind you, I lip synch all my concerts. I’m the Milli Vanilli of jazz.” Instead, he’s just lip synching the Spanish he’s attempting to learn with his new girlfriend, Argentine actress LUisana Lopilato, a South America native actress. “My Spanish is not great. I’m learning slowly. She’s showing me up. Her English is flawless, I sound like a caveman when I try to try Spanish.”

Buble on Q TV

Michael Buble was on “Q TV” talking with the radio DJ. Just a day before Oprah, the show was recorded before the album dropped. “Not nervous, actually so confident in this record; you’ve always got to prove yourself, you’re only as good as the last record. This time I tried to make a real effort to have integrity, to not care so much about commercial success….the weird thing on this one, I thought less what they would like and make more of a record, I needed to make a feel good record; in today’s music scenes, everything is so perfect - pitch correction, etc - they basically put this music onto an MP3 and we’re wondering why we missed the soul and the feeling….anyone that goes through a breakup knows that it’s not easy. We were together for three and a half years and I loved her very much…man this business is brutal; both of us are naive, and I think we both went ‘blah blah blah;’ you start to give away things that are only yours; it takes away something special.”

Buble on Australian Idol

Michael Buble was recently on Australia’s Idol mentoring and performing for the audiences there. Buble was jealous of Stan’s talents, one of the finalists on the show. Stan Walker performed “Sweet Dreams” and “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart,” while Hayley Warner performed “For Once in a Life” by Stevie Wonder. Buble was impressed by both finalists, though he felt more of a connection with Stan who made Buble want to punch the young star because he was so good. “I just thought, ‘Why am I here?’ Cause I’m gonna sound like a crap singer next to Stan. Stupid Stan.” Clearly being his typical sarcastic self, Buble started laughing during the studio performance. “That voice, it’s like God kissed your throat. I mean, that kids voice it’s one in a million. It’s not normal. It’s not a normal thing to have that kind of voice. It’s not.” He continues with Stan, saying “It’s hard when you’re a singer, and you meet a better singer than you and you have to come up and “mentor” them….what are you going to do with all that money, b****?”” The jokester didn’t even stay for the performance - in a joking move, he left the stage for that song.

Buble Pairing with an American Idol for Christmas Special

Michael Buble is joining the American version of The X Factor of sorts, also known as American Idol, for a holiday season special Jennifer Hudson: I’ll Be Home for Christmas. The holiday special is reportedly being taped in Chicago, reports ABC, in Hudson’s home town. The show will be an hour long primetime music special, airing Monday, December 14th at 8pm. Along with Buble’s performances of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” and “Let it Snow,” Hudson will sing “Silent Night,” “The Christmas Song” and “O Holy Night.” Hudson will follow season four American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, who has her own holiday special just a week before on Fox. Hudson won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Dreamgirls, which also starred Beyonce Knowles. Buble is currently promoting his album Crazy Love, which appeared a few weeks ago and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 charts.

According to Billboard, Buble plans to re-release his new album with some additional tracks while he gears up for an international tour that will begin in March and continue through 2011. “I’m gonna have a huge production, yeah,” Buble confirms to Billboard, “but I do not want to rely on laser and pyrotechnics or a set to make my show entertaining.”

Buble to Reissue “Crazy Love”

It doesn’t seem like that long ago that Michael Buble released his top selling album Crazy Love, yet already the Canadian Crooner has plans to reissue the set. The first two weeks of Crazy Love were spent at the top of the Billboard 200 charts, slowing down to number seven currently. Yet the man plans on re-releasing the set in 2010 with new songs recorded during the sessions, including “Hollywood Dead.” “That’s probably the best pop song I’ve ever been part of,” Buble said to Billboard. The single was co-penned by Buble and Toronto songwriter Robert Scott. “It’s kind of like our take on the culture of celebrity and how f—ked up it is and how people lose their way in the hunt for fame…It’s just one of those things saying, ‘If you’re gonna go for it, don’t give everything up for it. Remember where you came from…You need to remember what you asked for when you get it.” For fans it might be a bit discouraging as they have already purchased the latest set, but Buble doesn’t mind. He even says that he would’ve preferred to release another single “The End of May,” in the album. “If I could go back I probably would have replaced something (on the album) with this song.”
