Somebody Sounds Bitter

50 Cent sure is running his mouth a lot lately, so much so that it makes him seem a little insecure. Truthfully, he has reason to feel a little small compared to Jay-Z, as the Jiggaman is an undoubted mogul in the scene while 50 is still striving toward that kind of recognition.

In a recent interview with BET, 50 Cent, who is also from New York, was asked why Jay-Z gets the title of the “King of New York.” Fif responded, “There’s not another artist in New York City that generates more interest than 50 Cent. If we go international, Jay-Z is Beyoncé‘s husband. He became more popular and relevant based on the work that Matthew [Knowles] made Beyoncé do.”

That claim is hardly true, as Jay-Z was already a hip-hop superstar by the time he met Beyonce. More than a few rappers have talked trash about Jay-Z to draw attention to themselves and their new album, and 50 seems to be doing just that. Jay-Z is unlikely to bite, as he has more important things to worry about—like having a single on the top of the Billboard Hot 100. See him live in concert with Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.

Jay-Z Is Number One… Finally!

Many have considered Jay-Z to be at the top of the music scene for years, but it wasn’t quite official until this week. Jay-Z’s new single “Empire State of Mind” has become a massive hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Shockingly, it is his first single EVER to top that chart. The single features Alicia Keys and has been used frequently as a sort-of theme song for the New York Yankees during their World Series run and subsequent championship. He has appeared as a guest on other songs to make the top spot, but this is the first where his name is the main one on the track.

According the MTV, other tracks to feature Jay-Z to top this chart are Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker,” “Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and his wife Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love.” Longtime fans of Hov may be surprised that hits like “Can I Get A…,” “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem),” “Big Pimpin’,” Excuse Me Miss” and “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” never made the top spot. Jay-Z has many reasons to celebrate because of his massively successful new album, Blueprint 3. See him in concert with Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.

Jay-Z Has Eyes on Broadway as Next Conquest

Jay-Z has conquered everything from hip-hop to fashion in his empire, and apparently his next conquest is going to be Broadway. It is being reported that Hov will be teaming with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith to produce a new musical called Fela!. Fela! is about Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, a Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer. Everyone seems excited about the new endeavor, including those who worked with Kuti.

Kuti’s former co-mananger as well as the executor of his estate, Rikki Stein, said, “There’s going to be an enormous incentive for people to investigate Fela when they know that Jay-Z and Will Smith are all rabid fans. It’s a sign that the underground is moving overground… I have an abiding regret that Fela never achieved the recognition he deserved during his lifetime. We have a long row to hoe in terms of general knowledge and acceptance.”

The show is set to hit the Broadway stages on November 23. Any project that Jay-Z throws his support behind is worth checking out, as he carefully picks which projects he works on. Before this musical comes out, see the Jiggaman in concert by getting Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.

Jay-Z Scraps 2009 Dates

Fans who wanted to see Jay-Z on his tour this year will just have to wait until 2010, according to MTV. It is reported that Jay-Z has canceled all of his remaining 2009 dates because of an “unforeseen scheduling conflict.” He was supposed to play tonight (November 17) in Lubbock, Texas, and that show has been canceled as well as November 19th’s show in El Paso and the November 20th show in El Paso. The facts behind the scheduling conflict haven’t been revealed yet. He had also moved another date so he could perform at the 2009 American Music Awards.

Of course, Jay-Z doesn’t like to leave fans disappointed. He also recently announced a collection of 2010 dates in North America. The dates are:

Feb 20 Ft. Lauderdale, FL BankAtlantic Center
Mar 06 East Rutherford, NJ IZOD Center
Mar 12 Uniondale, NJ Nassau Coliseum
Mar 13 Atlantic City, NJ Borgata Casino
Mar 14 Detroit, MI The Palace of Auburn Hills

Jay-Z’s shows are always worth seeing for his many fans. His current show will likely feature selections from his latest release, Blueprint 3. His tickets go fast, and you can get your Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.

The Carters Help Kanye Re-Emerge

When Kanye West made his impromptu appearance on stage at the VMAs, his reputation took a major hit that caused the star to turn reclusive in the aftermath. Now, he is turning toward some trusted friends to mount his return to stage. Last night, Kanye was a surprise guest when Jay-Z’s better half, Beyonce, performed in London at the O2 Arena. With Bey, he gave his rendition of “Ego.”

That won’t be his only guest appearance on stage, according to rumors. Kanye and Jay-Z are both rumored guests to take the stage tonight when Rihanna performs in London. Rihanna, Hov and Kanye recorded the hit song “Run This Town” together, and it would be logical that they will perform that together. Rihanna is making a re-emergence of her own, as her newest dates are her first since suffering injuries at the hand of former boyfriend Chris Brown.  Rihanna also recently released her new album, Rated R.

Jay-Z has been a proponent of both Rihanna and Kanye West’s careers. Few are probably surprised that West decided to make his comeback by sharing the stage with Beyonce, Jay and Rihanna. With the fan following of “Run This Town,” Kanye is likely to be back in no time. See Hov in concert with Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.

50 Cent Takes on Jay-Z

In hip-hop world, there is another way to grab attention other than creating a top hit that fans love and that is to start a feud. 50 Cent and Beanie Sigel did just that with their new song “I Go Off.” In the track, they take on a man who actually DOES create chart-topping tracks, Jay-Z.

Sigel hinted at his feelings for Jay on the track rather than just saying it outright, but in case anyone missed the meaning, 50 ends the song with, “You changed, man. You let the money change you, Jay. You used to be from Marcy, n—-a. Now you’se a ‘Pass the Grey Pupon n—-a.’ You don’t want the shooters? I’ll take ‘em. Feed the wolves, or the wolves will feed off you. ... It’s your move, n—-a.”

50 also revealed to MTV that he was hopeful Jay-Z would respond and said, “Well, it would be great. It would be great for hip-hop. It would probably be interesting, but I don’t think one of us will survive it.”

Sorry to break the news to you 50, but if one person isn’t going to survive the feud, you are the one more likely to go down. After all, Jay-Z is a hip-hop mogul who has countless fans out there. See him in concert with Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.

Jay-Z Working with the Ting Tings?

The Ting Tings sound may be incredibly different than Jay-Z’s, but that doesn’t mean Hov can’t appreciate their talent. In fact, the Ting Tings have reportedly signed to the Jiggaman’s label, Roc Nation. A source revealed, “Jay is hoping to lend his production skills to some of the new material. The Staccato rhythmic style of The Ting Tings sits well with what he does best, so that was the attraction. Jay can make them one of the biggest British bands in America.”

The signing may mean that they will have to be in the U.S. more, which will likely be tough for Katie White, who revealed, “America’s good, we do long tours there and you know, there’s some amazing cities there, but you’re driving for so long just to get to the next city.”

The Ting Tings have been on the scene for the last couple of years, releasing top singles like “That’s Not My Name” and “Shut Up and Let Me Go.” Most artists thrive under the auspices of Jay-Z, and if the Ting Tings want to make it big in the U.S., Jay-Z is an excellent choice. Rihanna Talks About Appearing on Stage with Jay-Z

Rihanna made an impromptu appearance at Jay-Z’s concert on Sunday night, which was one way she is returning to the spotlight. She has remained under wraps since she suffered injuries at the hand of her then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Rihanna didn’t miss the significance of her appearance at Jay-Z’s concert. It comes as she is preparing to release her newest album, Rated R. Rihanna told MTV News after she took the stage, “There are a lot of butterflies, a lot of excitement. I’m anxious. Like, I can’t wait. But you’re always nervous, because you’re about to go do something big. It’s a new thing, a new era. But I’m not scared. I’m just really excited. I just can’t wait to start. My first time performing the songs was [Sunday] night in L.A. I performed with Jay. We did ‘Run This Town’ and ‘Hard,’ and I kept thinking, ‘Why the hell am I so nervous?’ And I couldn’t figure it out. But then I knew why: It was the first time performing one of my new songs. But it was fun. It was so exciting. The energy was awesome.”

You never know what can happen at a Jay-Z concert, which you will find out when you get Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.

Rihanna Takes Stage at Jay-Z Concert

Although it isn’t a normal “comeback,” Rihanna’s return to the spotlight and stage has the entire music scene captivated. Rihanna was already a superstar when she suffered injuries at the hand of her then-boyfriend Chris Brown. She stayed out of the spotlight following the incident, but in the last week she has given interviews. Rihanna is known as a protégé of Jay-Z, which makes it little surprise that she chose to make a surprise guest appearance at Jay-Z’s concert on Sunday in Los Angeles. The guest spot comes as Rihanna is preparing to release her newest album on November 23. Called Rated R, her new album features the track “Hard,” which she performed at the concert.

Jay-Z has been an avid supporter of Rihanna through her entire ordeal. She also appeared on one of the new singles from Jay-Z’s most recent album, Blueprint 3. Along with Kanye West, Rihanna is a guest on the single “Run This Town.” Many celebrities were on hand for the Los Angeles show, like Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel and Jamie Foxx. Having a Jay-Z endorsement is sure to add more buzz to Rihanna’s new album. See him live in concert by getting Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.

Jay-Z Performs at EMAs and Wins Award

Last night, Jay-Z performed a momentous show at MTV’s Europe Music Awards, which was held in Berlin to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. He performed his new single “Empire State of Mind” with a live band to back him. The single was released a duet with Alicia Keys, so Jay-Z’s backup singer Bridget Kelly stepped in for vocal duties.

Performing wasn’t the only honor for Hov, as he also received the Best Urban award. He was up against Kanye West, Eminem, Ciara and T.I. for the award. In his acceptance speech, Jay-Z said, “I thank you for this award. I look forward to the day — because it’s called the Best Urban Artist — I look forward to the day when all those walls come down and it’s just music. I go in the studio just like the Jonas Brothers, just like Green Day, and we all just make music. We are all just artists at the end of the day.”

Jay-Z likely won’t have much time to sightsee while in Germany, as he has quite the whirlwind schedule to support his latest release, Blueprint 3. Make sure to catch him live by getting Jay-Z tickets from StubHub.
