Cancellations continue
Everyone is waiting for the day when Elton John is well enough that they don’t have to worry about him bailing on his tour. The pop legend has been cutting tour dates left and right for nearly a month, first chopping off dates in the U.K. before starting in on his U.S. tour dates with Billy Joel on the Face to Face tour. This is understandably frustrating for fans of both of them, especially because a lot of people have been looking forward to seeing the two of them perform on stage.
The latest casualty is the Sprint Center in Kansas City. According to Kansas City.com, the two performers were going to be there in December, but the show has been rescheduled to February. Time to start planning again to see Elton when he passes by. Fortunately for anyone who hasn’t seen him yet, there are plenty of Elton John tickets available on StubHub, so look them up and see where he will be in the near future. Get tickets early and you are sure to get better seats.
Elton goes to Hawaii
Looks like Elton John will be kicking off the New Year in Oahu, playing at the Blaisdell Arena on the sixth for a concert there. Hopefully his health is back up by that time—we’ve seen what can happen when you catch E. Coli after also having influenza. Poor Elton.
Anyways, the news comes to us from Trading Markets.com, which published a press released about the show. That should keep Elton fans aware of the whens and wheres of the show, and they’ll probably be buying Elton John tickets early at StubHub. The pop legend has been touring relentlessly this year, from finishing off his Red Piano series in Las Vegas (which had been running for years, we might add) to playing gigs in the U.K. and the U.S. In between, he found time to try and adopt a Ukrainian orphan, which turned into a little blow-up with the church there, and attended numerous fund raising events. A busy year if there ever was one—but then again, we don’t know what 2010 will hold.
Elton cancels UK shows, refunds fans
Sad news from the Press Association for anyone in the U.K. who hoped to see Elton John reschedule his canceled shows there: The pop legend has announced that he will not, in fact, be going back to perform those shows, which he missed due to falling ill with a combination of influenza and E. Coli. He was actually hospitalized as a result of the illness, and despite desperately wanting to be at the performances, doctors dissuaded him from the notion of performing at all. They said it was simply too risky for him to be on stage considering his frail health at the time.
Elton pledged himself to rescheduling the shows, which he has typically done in the past. The man is a workaholic, and feels heavily indebted to his fans. However, it seems like it’s simply an impossibility to reschedule those four shows he missed in the U.K., simply because the venues aren’t available. Still, he will be going back on his tour with Billy Joel, so you can get Elton John tickets at StubHub.
Elton attends AIDS benefit, talks about hospital experience
While Elton John still isn’t on stage performing, he is up and about, and the other night was even attending an annual benefit for AIDS research. While there, he stopped to talk to NECN, offering them a few quotes about his experience being hospitalized, which seems to have been profoundly discomforting.
Reportedly, Elton said: “The worst thing about being in the hospital was that, actually it’s the first time I’ve been in bed for about nine days in the whole of my life, except for maybe when I had my tonsils out. So, I was alright. I had a good rest; I didn’t expect it. The worst thing was having to cancel shows. I hate that. But I’m back on my feet and I’m bouncing around now.”
It’s great to know he’s back and moving around again, and hopefully we’ll even see him performing again soon. The pop legend is due to play a few more shows with Billy Joel in the near future, and you can bet Elton John tickets will be hot items on StubHub.
San Jose date postponed
Alright, folks. Don’t shoot the messenger. We were under the impression that Elton John had finally recovered from his spate of illness and was ready to get back to the piano, as well. Not so fast, it appears. After canceling other dates of the famous Face 2 Face tour featuring Elton John and Billy Joel due to John’s illness, Joel is now the one out sick and has canceled the show that was expected to be their triumphant return, in San Jose. Their last date, as the San Jose Mercury’s A&E blog reminds us, was in Oakland on Saturday. The San Jose gig was for tomorrow, Tuesday Nov. 17.
This can only be disappointing to Elton John fans, who have been hoping to see the singer since he first got sick about a month ago. It’s true that when he got sick, he was really, really ill, coming down with a bad bout of influenza and a slight bout of E. Coli—never a good mix. The latter is just plain bad. But it looks like the shows will be made up, so don’t be shy about getting Elton John tickets at StubHub.
Elton still not well enough to perform
There are a lot of disappointed (but hopefully understanding) Elton John fans out there right now, with Elton having canceled yet another tour date recently due to needing more recovery time. Basically, all fans should probably just sit tight and expect his tour to extend way out into the winter, because he’s going to be making up a lot of missed dates. The man has been pretty ill, and while his publicist has been downplaying how bad it was, saying he’ll be back to work in a jiffy, it seems to have really taken a toll on him. And the man is in his 60s after all—cut him a break.
TicketNews has an update as to when you can expect to see Elton back on stage: “The next Face 2 Face concert on the calendar is coming up on November 17 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA. However, John could make his first public appearance before then. The musician is scheduled to attend the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s “Enduring Vision” event in New York City on November 16.”

Yet another show scrapped due to illness
Will Elton ever be back on tour? It doesn’t seem like it. Fans have been waiting with their Elton John tickets in hand for a number of weeks now, but the downtime needed for the pop legend to get off his sick bed continues to grow. Live Daily reports that Elton and Billy are going to be rescheduling a show in Oakland which they missed recently due to Elton’s continued struggle to overcome a bad case of flu made even worse by a case of E. Coli. Scary stuff, but hopefully he’ll finally be over all this. Once again, Elton fans should feel lucky that they their idol treats his audiences well and makes an effort to always make sure they get their money’s worth.
On Nov. 17, the two artists are expected to start performing again in San Jose. Hopefully they’ll finally be able to get back on the touring circuit, which they’ve been away from for a number of months now. Their tour is one of the most popular in the country, so expect tickets to sell pretty quickly over at StubHub.
Is Elton John the real king of pop?
Among musicians, there’s a fraternity that seems to defy the petty rivalries you see in the press. It’s unlikely that Elton would have ever challenged his friend Micheal Jackson for the title of King of Pop, but you can’t keep fans from speculating on subjects like that. A writer over at Everything PR claims that there’s a pretty good case to be made that Elton is the original king of pop. “Taking a brief pause to celebrate one of the most talented artists of any age seems appropriate given Elton’s age and his recent bout with illness. We are not driving the nails in his coffin either, but I bet many out there would have liked to have expressed their feelings about Elvis and Michael, had they known their time here would be so short,” he argues.
He compiles a list of numbers that are pretty staggering. Elton has accumulated a lot of awards over the years, from Grammys to Golden Globes to an Oscar (and don’t forget knighthood). He also raised millions for a charity dedicated to the memory of Princess Diana. There’s a great case to be made, so get some Elton John tickets at StubHub now.
Elton is coming to Oakland
Elton John is recovering from his bout of flu and E. Coli, which can’t have been pleasant, and is headed back to the stage. AP reports that the pop star is going to be appearing alongside Billy Joel in Oakland, California, for their first time back on the stage. This has been a pretty long stretch for Elton, but then again, he’s getting up there in years, and he’s also been very, very ill. It’s really only fair—this is Elton’s turn, after Billy got sick with the flu during their last round of Face to Face tour dates. Of course, Billy wasn’t out for this long, but there were a number of concerts that had to be rescheduled.
If anything, you have to be impressed with Elton and Billy’s work ethic. They love to keep moving, and they certainly give their all to their fans. If you buy Elton John tickets, from StubHub or anywhere else, you can be pretty sure that even if the concert were canceled, Elton will either refund the tickets or reschedule the show (and he usually opts for the latter).
Elton to start touring again next week
You can’t keep a good man down—and that certainly includes Elton John, who has been out of commission for the past couple weeks, recovering from a bout of influenza made worse by E. Coli. But the CBC is reporting that Elton plans to go back to work next week, heading out on his Face to Face tour with Billy Joel. The first show he is expected to return to is Oakland. They have already postponed several concerts due to Elton’s illness.
You can bet that Elton and Billy will make up those concerts that had to be put off, because both are pretty dedicated to their fans and like to make sure that they get their money’s worth for tickets. The same is true for Elton’s concerts in the U.K. and Ireland recently—he is expected to eventually make up the shows and honor the Elton John tickets purchased by his fans over there. Now you can see why people remain Elton John fans for most of their lives. It’s easy to be loyal to the guy when he’s loyal to his listeners.
Anyway, if you’re looking for tickets, you should know that you can find them on StubHub.
