U2 Tickets – Rebuilding a Crumbling Barrier
It was an attempt to separate barriers and create harmony between all. Instead, MTV and U2 surrounded their celebration with yet another blockade. During the free, 20 minute concert that featured U2, Jay Z and others perform, celebrating two decades following the knocking down of the Berlin wall, there was another “wall” set up. Fans who weren’t able to snag U2 tickets were once again caught between a separation – this time, one built by the media hounds that were celebrating such a momentous occasion. A 6 ½ foot metal blockade prevented anyone without one of the 10,000 free tickets to hear, let alone see, the show. Though fans snagged all tickets within just three hours of selling, many fans still traveled to Berlin to see the show. “It’s completely ridiculous that they are blocking the view,” said Louis-Pierre Boily, who came without a pair of stubs. “I thought it was a free show, but MTV probably wants people to watch it on TV to get their ratings up.”
Though fans were eager to tear down the tarp that supposedly secured fans and surrounding residents of the area, according to the local promoter, there came little luck. The temporary fence was met to ensure to safety of all patrons, whether inside the venue or out, but still fans weren’t pleased with the ironic twist. The event was taped and broadcast during the network’s European Music Awards, U2 fans weren’t dissatisfied – especially as they picked up the Best Live Act Awards.
The popular Irish rock band has made an impact on the music scene for over three decades. U2’s Paul “Bono” Hewson, Dave “The Edge” Evans, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. have really had an effect on mainstream rock music. From creating a series of philanthropic events to musical innovations unlike any other, the group that has been prominent for years will continue its international impact. Even Quincy Jones, a legendary producer said to LiveDaily, “Their relevance transcends music—it’s almost like its own belief system, which is probably why those four dudes have stayed together for so long.” Credence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug “Cosmo” Clifford is equally as amazed with U2’s lasting talent. “They have stayed viable at a very high level through the many changes in the industry over the years. They have given back so much to people in need, making a real difference in the lives of millions of people around the globe.”
The group is gearing up for their latest project – the 2010 tour and their struggling musical, Spider Man. As the tour has high hopes for retaining U2’s musical prowess, the Broadway stage musical that has music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge is falling short of typical U2 standards. However, with a new man on board – the entertainment powerhouse behind both the Rolling Stones and U2 Michael Cohl – things could be looking up for the financially distressed production. Reportedly on schedule, previews for the musical remain set in stone for February as is U2’s concert schedule, where a full calendar can be viewed at http://www.stubhub.com; their North American concert tour pre-sales begin this week as they finalize dates for next summer.
Michael Buble Tickets – Fans Get More ‘Love’ from Michael Buble
Canadian crooner Michal Buble is readying the reissue of his album Crazy Love. Billboard.com reports that Buble plans on releasing an expanded version of the album, which enjoyed two weeks at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release (it’s currently sitting pretty at No. 7), in 2010. The reissue of Crazy Love will feature additional songs recorded by Buble during the same studio sessions for the original album, such as “Hollywood Dead.”
Following “Have I Met You” and “Hold On,” “Hollywood Dead” is slated to be the third single off the album, and Buble confided to Billboard.com, “That’s probably the best pop song I’ve ever been part of.” Buble co-wrote the song with Toronto songwriter Robert Scott and described the single, saying, “It’s kind of like our take on the culture of celebrity and how f***ed up it is and how people lose their way in the hunt for fame … Remember where you came from … You need to remember what you asked for when you get it.” Wise words, Michael!
“The End of May,” a song by the Actual Tigers, may also make an appearance on the track listing for the reissue of Crazy Love. Buble revealed to Billboard.com that he would have swapped out another track for “The End of May” on the original album if he could go back in time, calling the song “so beautiful” and claiming, “I think it might be one of the best vocal performances I’ve ever given.” Fans will have to wait until the arrival of the album to find out for themselves, although a release date has not yet been set.
While the release date for the expanded version of Crazy Love remains up in the air, Buble has finalized plans to tour in support of the effort. Buble is working with production designers from the late pop icon Michael Jackson’s scheduled This Is It concerts in London for his upcoming trek, which is set to kick off in North American in March 2010 and last until 2011! Check out StubHub.com for Michael Buble tickets to see Buble perform songs like “The End of May” and “Hollywood Dead” live!
Crazy Love is Michael Buble’s first album of new material since 2007’s Call Me Irresponsible. The Canadian singer split recording time for the album, named after a 1970 Van Morrison song of the same name, between New York and Vancouver. In addition to two original songs—“Hold On” and “Haven’t Met You Yet”—co-written by Buble, the album features covers of “Georgia On My Mind,” “Cry Me A River” and “Baby (You’ve Got What It Takes)” featuring Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.
Buble previously told Billboard.com that the recording process for Crazy Love, produced by David Foster, Bob Rock and Humberto Gatica, was more organic than his past studio experiences. Recalled Buble, “The musicians and I all sat in the room, recorded it right from the floor and we let the sounds all come together and bleed into one another. It’s not contrived. Not too perfect. It just feels really good.” What also likely felt good was beating KISS on the Billboard 200 chart, as Crazy Love knocked the rock legend’s album Sonic Boom off the chart upon its release!
Matthew Good Tickets – Vancouver’s Voice
It wouldn’t exactly be accurate to call Matthew Good a music entertainer. After all, that would put him in the same category of the likes of Miley Cyrus and Steven Tyler. And any Good fan would say that he is much, much more than an entertainer. A more accurate description of the role Matthew Good plays in the music scene is a mix between a singer, songwriter, artist and activist. It is his commitment to equality and social justice that has kept his fans coming back for more with every new release. It has also kept Matthew Good tickets in high demand, which fans can get from StubHub.com.
Lately, a few causes in particular have caught Good’s attention. One has to do with the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Vancouver. In connection with the games, Vancouver is holding a Cultural Olympiad. According to The Ubyssey, Good called artists participating in the Cultural Olympiad “shameful” as it coincides with funding cuts to other, less prominent art organizations. Like other causes Good supports, others don’t share his view and welcome any additional money the Olympics bring in to the city.
Another issue Matthew Good feels strongly about is the Vancouver music scene. The city has passed requirements for local music venues, forcing the smaller indie venues to close their doors. He has also noticed a growing gap between the city’s rich and poor. To hear Good’s views on subjects like this first-hand, fans won’t have to land an interview with him. Instead, fans can just take a listen to his latest album, 2009’s Vancouver. The album isn’t necessarily an ode to his favorite city, but instead is a long list of the problems he sees plaguing his beloved home. He revealed in multiple interviews that his inspiration for the material on the album came from his time living downtown.
Good’s many years on the music scene have earned him the right to speak about the subjects featured on Vancouver. He started growing in popularity during the 1990s as part of the Matthew Good Band. The Canadian scene embraced their sound with open arms, and eventually the United States discovered their sound, as well. Their first album, Last of the Ghetto Astronauts, did well with fans despite its independent status, and the albums that followed—Underdogs, Beautiful Midnight and The Audio of Being—were also hits.
By the early 2000s, Good was ready to break out on his own, and he released his first solo album, Avalanche, in 2003. He followed with White Light Rock & Roll Review in 2004 and Hospital Music in 2007. Fans of Good are also likely devout followers of his website. On his personal website, Good writes everything from his opinions on various causes to short fiction. Some of his favorite causes to talk about, according to his site, are mental health issues, poverty and foreign policy. His support for mental health issues goes even further, as he has a mental illness himself. After a long struggle, Good was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and he now advocates for more open discussions on the topic of mental illnesses.
Martina McBride and Trace Adkins Tickets – Glam Meets Gritty to ‘Shine All Night’
It might be a match made in heaven, but certainly not for traditional reasons. Country music’s glam girl Martina McBride is teaming up with the rough-and-ready Trace Adkins on a co-headlining tour all set to jet around the country in style, and McBride’s smooth, melodious voice is sure to complement Adkins’ rich baritone on a tour worth remembering as the Shine All Night Tour kicks into high gear.
The Shine All Night Tour pairs the independent vixen Martina McBride with the equally strong-headed Trace Adkins, and while this unexpected double-bill surprised the country music industry upon announcement, perhaps McBride and Adkins each bring a little something different to the table that will combine to produce one of the most memorable tours of the year for patrons with Martina McBride tickets and Trace Adkins tickets to a live performance.
Coming off her recently-released chart-topping album Shine, Martina McBride has already illuminated the country music scene this year, taking the hit singles “Ride” and “I Just Call You Mine” straight to radio stations around the country and also packing a one-two punch on the Billboard charts. McBride has been a dominant fixture on the country music scene since 1992, when she first spread her wings with the RCA-released album The Time Has Come.
While her debut album produced red-hot singles like “That’s Me” and “The Time Has Come,” it wasn’t until 1993 that Martina McBride officially exploded in the industry, taking her sophomore set The Way That I Am straight to the top with crowd-pleasers like “My Baby Loves Me” and “Independence Day.” Known for her traditional approach to contemporary country music, Martina McBride has made a name for herself in Nashville as an emotionally-charged singer with a take-no-flak attitude, making her the perfect accomplice for Trace Adkins.
Adkins, still going strong on the smash success of his 2008 release X, is a powerhouse of a country music singer with the swagger and stoicism to keep him in the vacillating traditional-contemporary music swing. The standout vocalist got his rise in the industry around the same time as McBride, skyrocketing to the spotlight in 1996 when his debut album Dreamin’ Out Loud dropped. Lead singles “Every Light in the House” and “I Left Something Turned on at Home” thrust Trace Adkins into full-blown fame, and his risqué and often sexed-up songs like “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” “Hot Mama” and “Chrome” have continued bolstering his edgy appeal through the decades.
Together, Trace Adkins and Martina McBride have combined for what’s sure to be an absolute knockout of a country music tour. The Shine All Night Tour kicks off Nov. 20 with dates around the country, and with opening acts like the Lost Trailers and Blake Shelton also on the ticket, this all-out country music extravaganza is sure to keep the music industry on its toes. What will Martina McBride and Trace Adkins play when they both perform full sets onstage during their upcoming tour? Only those with tickets will find out, which is a big reason why concert tickets from StubHub are selling like crazy!
James Taylor Tickets – The Troubadour Reunion
Wouldn’t it be great to reunite with old friends and get paid for it? That’s just what James Taylor and Carole King thought as they put together the ‘Troubadour Reunion’ tour, an event originally sparked from the 50th anniversary celebration of West Hollywood’s landmark two years ago. Now the two veteran performers, along with a few friends, will kick off a new “Troubadour” event this March in Australia, courting New Zealand, Japan and the U.S., as well. Get James Taylor tickets today from http://www.stubhub.com to see the acts together.
“This tour…has been waiting to happen for a long time but the years seem to have vanished. When we reunited for the Troubadour 50th Anniversary celebration in 2007, it was, and still is, all about the music and the celebration of performing together,” Taylor said in a press statement. Now the two have reignited that original passion, an emotion close to their fans, for a blast back into the past. The two first performed together at the Troubadour Club in 1970; the event not only marks a legendary performance for the Troubadour but also for King, who performed solo for the first time that evening.
Just two years ago they reunited with their original 1970 band and loved the reunion format so much they decided to take their performances to the road. “When James and I first played together in the early seventies, we connected immediately, both musically and personally, with an effortless, comfortable familiarity,” King said to Monsters and Critics.com. “After we reunited in 2007 with Danny Kortchmar, Lee Sklar and Russ Kunkel, the original band from our early Troubadour shows, none of us wanted the fun to stop.”
Now the infamous duo of smooth ‘70s rock will not only appear together, but so will their band – as Kortchmar, Kunkel and Sklar all join Tyler and King for the reunion trek. Only seven dates have been announced with promises for more, as the rock group plans to visit Australia’s Brisbane, Hunter, Sydney and Melbourne; New Zealand’s Auckland; Japan’s Tokyo and Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl in the U.S.
That celebrated ‘70s Troubadour performance had Taylor performing his self-titled Apple Records album that included the hits “Carolina in My Mind” and “Something in the Way She Moves.” Though King had been a prominent songwriter – penning tunes for Aretha Franklin, the Monkees and more, it was the first performance that she was stepping out on her own. Taylor and King have since become multi-platinum selling acts, each earning their fare share of awards as well as inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Taylor just finished up with his Covers Tour, a nationwide tour that promoted his new albums Covers and Other Covers, his first Top 10 album. The sets have James covering some of his favorite classic acts like Leonard Cohen, George Jones and the Temptations. All the tunes on Covers were prominent parts of Taylor’s concerts throughout his career. “Crowd pleasers, rabble rousers,” as Taylor calls them. “It just seemed like a really obvious album we wanted to make.”
