Daughtry Tickets – Daughtry Makes Awards Show Stops on Tour
Although currently on tour in support of sophomore effort Leave This Town, Chris Daughtry and his namesake band are making time to perform at various awards shows this fall. On November 11, Daughtry took time out from touring to perform “Tennessee Line,” off Leave This Town, with Vince Gill for the first time at the CMA Awards.
Hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, the 43rd annual CMAs also featured performances by Entertainer of the Year winner Taylor Swift, Darius Rucker, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Brooks and Dunn (with ZZ Top), Jamey Johnson (with Kid Rock) and the co-hosts. Daughtry is set to take the stage at another awards show, the American Music Awards, on November 22 along with fellow American Idol alumni Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Adam Lambert.
After playing a string of summer club dates in support of Leave This Town, Daughtry embarked on a new batch of dates on October 19. Daughtry will remain on the road through December 20, when the band caps off its North American arena tour in Evansville, Indiana. Chris Daughtry previously told Billboard.com that fans can expect quite a show due to the large scale of the tour saying, “It’s the first time where we actually get to use some big production so maybe some pyro, who knows.” Check out StubHub.com for Daughtry tickets to see the band’s possible pyrotechnics live!
Leave This Town arrived in mid-July and debuted at the coveted No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, and it remained among the Top 10 for quite awhile thereafter. The follow-up to Daughtry’s quadruple-platinum 2006 debut, Leave This Town certainly didn’t fall prey to the sophomore slump! During its first week of release, Leave This Town outsold the late pop icon Michael Jackson, but Chris Daughtry remained humble, telling Billboard.com, “I’m just very proud and honored to be at the top of the charts.”
Although former Rock Star-INXZ reject Chris Daughtry was voted off American Idol after making it into the final four, the bald-headed crooner nonetheless found favor with the American audience. After turning down a spot in Fuel (he performed a rendition of their song “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)” on Idol), Daughtry signed a record contract with Idol’s 19 Entertainment and RCA in 2006 and formed his self-titled band with guitarist Jeremy Brady (who was later replaced by Brian Craddock), guitarist Josh Steely, bassist Josh Paul, and drummer Joey Branes.
The band found instant success with their single “It’s Not Over” in 2007, and the group’s self-titled debut subsequently eclipsed the success of American Idol rivals Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks by garnering four Grammy nominations in 2008. If the current success of Daughtry’s sophomore album is any indication, it looks like the band may be taking another trip to the Grammys this year, although Chris Daughtry remains humble about the possibility. The band’s namesake told The Weekender while on tour, “All that stuff if great, but more than anything, I guess we want to see the record carry us the next two years like the first one did.” That shouldn’t be a problem!
Daughtry Tickets – A Serious Musician
Chris Daughtry isn’t your teenage bubble-gum pop star or one-hit wonder. The singer/songwriter who made a splash on American Idol has already sold millions of albums and is the first “Idol” to generate two consecutive chart-topping albums. The acclaimed singer has assembled a band called Daughtry, which includes guitarists Josh Steely and Brian Craddock, bassist Josh “JP” Paul and drummer Joey Barns.
In an interview with APP.com, Daughtry muses about his future in the business, saying “This is what I want to do. I have a lot of music in me. I want to keep on doing this for as long as I can.” Luckily for fans, there will be plenty of chances to score a pair of Daughtry tickets from http://www.stubhub.com soon.
Before his stint on American Idol, Chris Daughtry had plenty of experience as an amateur musician. He began singing in small, local bands around the Greensboro area when he was just 16 years old. He joined the band Absent Element and auditioned for Rock Star: INXS in 2005. He was rejected, yet it was possibly the best bit of bad news for Daughtry. Shortly afterward he auditioned for American Idol and earned a spot on the popular American series.
Daughtry fulfilled the rocker niche and charmed the judges and audience members with his winning smile. The enthusiasm over Daughtry really took off after he made it to the final 12 and performed a rendition of Fuel’s “Hemorrhage (In My Hands).” In fact, his performance prompted the members of Fuel to practically beg Daughtry to become their new lead singer.
Chris Daughtry said thanks, but no thanks to the offer presented by Fuel after he was eventually booted off the show; the aspiring singer had plans of his own. He signed with Idol’s 19 Entertainment and RCA Records and within a short amount of time released DAUGHTRY, a project that was put together with the help of four other band members. The album became a huge hit and rode on the success of the leadoff single “It’s Not Over.” Daughtry had, in fact, become more popular than his American Idol rivals Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee. Five songs charted in the Top 40 before he set to work on his sophomore set.
Leave This Town proved to be a great second full-length effort for Chris Daughtry. It was released in 2009 and featured the two popular singles “Everytime You Turn Around” and “What I Meant to Say.” All five band members appear on the CD’s cover and they offer fans a heavy dose of alternative rock and post-grunge tunes. The resulting sounds from the album represent modern day rock without the needless glitz and glamour found on some of today’s releases.
Chris Daughtry may not have walked away an Idol champion, but he seems to have left many of the show’s winners in the dust. Now three years after he first made his appearance on the talent competition, he remains one of the most devoted hard rockers on the scene. Don’t miss out on one of his live performances today!
Hot Chip Tickets – Hot Chip to Serve Up Fresh New Album in February
The fourth studio album from British electro-pop import Hot Chip is set to arrive via Astrawerks on Feb. 9, 2010. The band revealed the release date for its forthcoming album, titled One Life Stand, on Nov. 10, and according to Billboard.com the effort will feature Hot Chip’s signature dance grooves with a dose of soul, ranging from contemporary R&B to gospel.
Hot Chip fans who can’t wait until 2010 to hear the new album can pre-order One Life Stand on the group’s website, and those who do so will receive a free download of a new song called “Take It In.” There is no word yet on whether “Take It In” will be the lead single off One Life Stand, although NME.com reveals it is a contender along with the title track. Additionally, frontman Alexis Taylor told NME.com that a third song, to be titled either “The Longest Night” or “I Feel Better,” which he described as “the most anthemic-sounding one. A big, massive Euro club sounding track,” may also be the first single.
One Life Stand is the follow-up to Hot Chip’s lauded 2008 album Made in the Dark, which landed at No. 2 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart upon its release. Between album releases, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor both issued solo albums while the group as a whole released a compilation effort under the Bugged Out mix series. The five-piece band retreated to London’s Lanark Studios to record One Life Stand, which features cameos by Charles Hayward (of the 1970s progressive rock outfit This Heat) and drummer Leo Taylor (of the Invisibles).
Hot Chip first began making fans want to put on their dancing shoes in 2000, when the London-bred group released its debut EP Mexico via Victory Garden Records, the label owned by members of psychedelic rock band Southall Riot. Fans and critics were instantly charmed by the contrasting vocals of Goddard and Taylor coupled with Hot Chip’s fusion of techno beats, piano and acoustic guitar. The self-released Sanfrandisco E-Pee followed in 2002.
In 2005, Hot Chip inked a record deal with New York label DFA, releasing the Over and Over EP followed by The Warning in 2006. After supporting The Warning with a heavy round of touring throughout 2007, Hot Chip released a DJ Kicks mix album. The single “Ready for the Floor” arrived later that year and then Made in the Dark was released and was instantly hailed Hot Chip’s finest effort to date, although that may all change with the forthcoming One Life Stand.
Hot Chip recently unveiled U.K. touring plans for a 12-date trek that will begin in Glasgow on Feb. 12 and see the group stopping in cities like Edinburgh, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol, Norwich and London across the pond. Additional European and U.S. tour dates will follow in the near future. To see Hot Chip live, head to StubHub.com for Hot Chip tickets.
Aerosmith Tickets – New Direction after Four Decades
Co-founder and lead guitarist Joe Perry confirmed in early November that Steven Tyler had quit Aerosmith. The frontman and co-founder of the group was apparently missing in action for nearly a month before the official announcement came from Perry, who revealed that Tyler had not been seen since the group’s Abu Dhabi performance in October. “Steven quit as far as I can tell,” Perry admitted to the Las Vegas Sun.
The group was on hiatus earlier this year following Tyler’s fall during an August performance in Sturgis, SD that left the singer with a broken left shoulder and a minor head injury. Though he recovered in time to return to the group’s world tour for the finale stretch, Aerosmith has since announced that even with Tyler’s departure, the group will live on. Perry made a comment on Twitter, saying “Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can’t take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin!” Check out how the band recovers with Aerosmith tickets from http://www.stubhub.com.
According to Classic Rock Magazine, Tyler is focusing on “Brand Tyler” rather than the group’s total image as the two leading men are interested in covering their music from different angles. Tyler apparently wants a more poppy edge to his tunes, something that got the group mainstream fame during the late ‘90s and early ‘00s (think “Jaded” and “I Don’t’ Want to Miss a Thing”).
For serious Aerosmith fans, this news shouldn’t surprise many. As a result of Tyler’s faults recently, Perry has been extremely vocal about the miscommunication between the two and about the disagreements the group has been having. Talking to the Associated Press (AP), Perry said that he was upset with Tyler’s recent withdrawal from any promotional side of the group, particularly after the second set of cancellations that left many fans bewildered about the fate of Aerosmith. “All I know is, he’s got to get his act together,” Perry firmly stated to AP.
Clearly the two have been going in different musical directions for years, as Perry continued to update fans about the status of the group, noting that the two men haven’t written together in over a decade. The changing dynamics of any metal rock group is often times legendary, but for the four-decade Aerosmith it seemed to many fans that they had surpassed most stereotypes. Both men are the original founders and apart from the brief departure of Perry during the ‘80s, both have been the dominant staples of the group.
Tyler and Perry met at an ice cream shop in Sunapee, NH and started the group with bassist Tom Hamilton and guitarist Brad Whitford. Tyler, at the time, was a drummer, but when Joey Kramer came aboard, Tyler earned the role of lead singer as the group moved to Boston. The guys set up gigs at local clubs in the area and signed with Columbia Records two years later, quickly producing their self-titled debut by 1973.
The group’s debut did well for a group just starting out, as the single “Dream On” reached the 59th spot on the charts. The group’s third record, 1975’s Toys in the Attic, was what finally earned them commercial and critical success with “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way” becoming top hits. They continued to release semi-successful hits through the ‘70s, and in 1980 Perry left the group to start his own projects, followed by Brad Whitford’s departure.
After the release of Aerosmith’s Greatest Hits, which sold six million copies, Perry returned to the group, as did Whitford, for a reunion tour. After stints in rehab, the group found the spotlight again with Run D.M.C.‘s cover of “Walk This Way.” Though the group continued to be fraught with disaster, they also saw a resurgence of albums in the 1990s and 2000s. See how they survive this battle with a new frontman and album by getting Aerosmith tickets today.
Tegan and Sara Tickets – Quin Sisters Branch out with ‘Sainthood’
Tegan and Sara Quin have long been a power-pop duo worth mentioning in the music industry, but they’ve switched things up for their latest full-length release Sainthood, and the results have yielded nothing but success so far. The Canadian power-pop duo Tegan and Sara released Sainthood on Oct. 27, and the album’s significant shift from 2007’s The Con, the sisters’ previous release, is enough to sound the alarms.
There were plenty of changes from The Con to Sainthood that have, perhaps, thrust the indie-centered Tegan and Sara into the big-time spotlight for the first time, and this change could be partly because of their slow embrace of the mainstream, as Sara recently told Billboard: “It’s less of a goal to get on radio and more of a goal to not resist radio as much as we have in the past. We’ve had a really comfortable arc in our career, but at this point we recognize there is a fan base we have yet to entice. With this album, I know we have a shot at it.”
Take, for example, Tegan and Sara’s current hit single “Hell.” Not just a paradox to their album titled Sainthood, “Hell” is a song with catchy hooks that still stays within the parameters of the artists’ original style, though pushing a more mainstream appeal at the same time with its indie-pop flavor. “Hell” adds a slight element of rock with a definite bite to the duo’s typically catchy power-pop tracks, and the soothing chorus of “no I’m not ready for downtown trash, avoid collection” in the song adds dimensions previously unheard of from this Canadian superband, with the track helping to launch Sainthood to the No. 21 slot on the Billboard 200 upon release.
Another difference between the new and improved Tegan and Sara of Sainthood has to do with songwriting, as this album marks the very first time that the twins have collaborated in co-writing some songs for an album. Previously, both musicians wrote songs solo and then collaborated on choosing which to include on albums, but with Sainthood the Quin sisters teamed up in what they described as an “awkward” process of songwriting, though just one of their co-written songs ultimately made the cut for Sainthood.
The non-religious album Sainthood has also been propelled along since its Oct. 27 release thanks to Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla, who helped on production along with Howard Redekopp. Walla convinced Tegan and Sara to use a full band in recording instead of overdubbing, as they have done in previous recordings, and the full effect is another welcomed change from the duo’s previous album The Con. Recording Sainthood with a full band backing them has also prepared Tegan and Sara for the duo’s upcoming tour, which will see a few dates in Europe throughout November before a much-anticipated two-month stint in the U.S. this coming February.
With the soaring success of Sainthood and its lead single “Hell” burning up the music scene, it’s no wonder that Tegan and Sara tickets from StubHub are hot sellers right now. Tegan and Sara may not be coming to the U.S. until February, but that only gives fans more time to get acquainted with Sainthood before this red-hot sisterly duo takes the stage by storm on tour.
