ZZ Top Tickets – The Show Must Go On For ZZ Top
Aerosmith may have cancelled its tour with ZZ Top, but that isn’t stopping the Texas-bred boogey band from continuing on the road without them! Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler fell of the stage during a performance at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota (breaking his shoulder among other injuries) on August 5, and the band was thus forced to cancel its tour. This left tour mates ZZ Top in a pickle, until they decided to forge on, announcing a string of brand new dates! ZZ Top’s Frank Beard released a statement on the group’s decision saying, “When we found out that the tour was going to be canceled, we got together and decided that since we’re ready, willing and able, we should get out there immediately and get it on and that’s exactly what we intent to do.” Among ZZ Top’s new non-Aerosmith dates are shows at the Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan September 6-7; at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. September 13-14 and at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston September 15. More ZZ Top dates are expected to be announced at a later date so check out StubHub.com for ZZ Top tickets.
ZZ Top formed in Houston, Texas in 1970 when guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard merged their rival bands, Moving Sidewalks (Gibbons) and American Blues (Hill and Beard). The newly-minted group released two albums that introduced audiences to their blues music and penchant for Southern humor before their third record, Tres Hombres, became their true breakthrough. The album contained the hit single “La Grange,” a track based on John Lee Hooker’s “Boogie Chillen” which remains ZZ Top’s best-known song some decades later. ZZ Top was the premier blues band of the 1970s and finished off the decade in style, with a year-and-a-half-long tour dubbed the Worldwide Texas Tour. After taking a three-year hiatus, ZZ Top jumped labels and released Deguello and El Loco before adding synthesizers for their next two albums, the more contemporary efforts Eliminator and Afterburner. Around this time the trio also created striking imagery with their long beards and boiler suits—topped with golf hats no less—just in time to usher in the era of the music video.
As hard as it may be to believe, ZZ Top’s original lineup remains intact, even after over 30 years of making music. The trio released XXX to celebrate their longevity in 1999 and continues to steadily churn out albums, their most recent being 2008’s Live from Texas. ZZ Top is rumored to be working on a new album with famed producer Rick Rubin, although they will be busy on the road for awhile. Hill recently said of the state of the tour, “We, like so many fans, are disappointed that we’re not going to be out with Aerosmith and we wish Steven a speedy recovery.” Gibbons finished his thought adding, “As musicians, we sometimes have to improvise and that’s exactly what this tour is about. We’re going to get out there as quickly as possible and to play for people who want to come to a ‘down ‘n’ dirty rock and roll show—no frills and no holds barred.” Get your ZZ Top tickets to see the band live!
Wynonna Judd Tickets- Female Country Star
In 2009, Wynonna Judd released an album of covers and standards called Sing: Chapter 1. The album contains 12 tracks that range from country music standards to blues tunes, some R&B flair, and American pop radio classics by the masters. Get Wynonna Judd tickets and see a talented singer live! In 2005, The Live Her Story: Scenes from a Lifetime was released on DVD and CD, which landed at number two on the Top Country Album charts. The following year, the singer released Classic Christmas just in time for the holiday season.
Judd was Born Christina Ciminella in Ashland, KY, on May 30, 1964. Her mother, Naomi, was still in high school at the time, and her biological father left the family when Judd was an infiant. After Naomi remarried, the family headed to Los Angeles, but the marriage disintegrated in 1972. Judd spent parts of the next few years living on welfare and returned to Kentucky with her mother in 1976. She lived in a mountain home, which did not have a phone or television. Her only source of entertainment was listening to country music on the radio. After Judd received a guitar as a gift, she started learning how to play and would sing along with her mother.
By the time she was a teenager, her vocal talent impressed a lot of people. In 1979, the family moved to Nashville to try their luck in the music business. Naomi and her daughter inked a deal with RCA in 1983, and for the rest of the ‘80s, they became the biggest selling duo in country music history. After Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 1990, she decided to retire from the business, performing one last time at her Farwell tour in 1991. At first, Judd wasn’t sure if she wanted to carry on without her mother, who effectively ran the group. She finally decided to embark on a solo career and signed with MCA.
Her first album on her own, Wynonna, debuted in 1992. It was an instant hit, selling over three million copies. That album topped the country charts and it reached the Top Five on the pop side. The first three solo singles, “She Is His Only Need,” “I saw the Light,” and “No One Else on Earth” all landed at number one on the country charts while “My Strongest Weakness” made the Top Five. Judd’s Tell Me Why, was another platinum-selling album which was released in 1993. That album gave her five more Top Ten hits, which included “Only Love,” “Girls with Guitars,” “Rock Bottom,” and “Is It Over Yet.” After a three year hiatus, Judd released her third album in 1996 entitled Revelations.
Revelations gave her a number one single called “To Be Loved by You.” Although the album did not produce another cut in the Top Ten, it went platinum. In 1997, Judd’s follow-up, The Other Side, exhibited a bluesy and rock driven blend. Instead of releasing another solo album right away, Judd reunited with her mother for a New Year’s Eve concert to ring in the year 2000. They teamed up for a full-fledged tour together that same year.
Willie Nelson Tickets - The Dream Team
How else do you describe the collaboration between Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp? Their no-frills, folksy tour of minor league ballparks has been drawing in fans of down-home country-bluegrass tunes that these dudes are best known for. Nelson seems to stand out from the rest. His graying, long hair and Americana style represents the culture of the Native Americans more than anything else. It is a refreshing lapse into the simplicity of life rather than the glitz and glamour of those sugar coated pop tunes that we hear at least every ten minutes on the radio. His hour long set on the stage features some of his classic works like “Whiskey River,” “Good Hearted Woman,” “Crazy” and “Funny How Time Slips Away.” Nelson also has a new album under his belt, American Classics, a set chock full of good-time American classics. A skilled master of folk, the man wears his guitar and braided hair well. See him perform live by getting your own pair of Willie Nelson tickets from http://www.stubhub.com.
Singer, songwriter and country music rebel Willie Nelson is an icon in the industry. He first reached star-studded status in 1975 following the success of The Red Headed Stranger and the single “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.” Alongside contemporary Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson became part of the outlaw country movement taking shape during the early part of the 1970s. Part of his musical allure was to never play it safe - Nelson was all about experimenting, taking chances and breaking the mold when it came to creating tunes. His diverse variety of styles included: pop, swing, jazz, traditional country, cowboy songs, honky tonk, rock & roll, folk and blues.
Willie Nelson seemed to occupy the country and pop charts throughout the 1970s, scoring hits with “Remember Me,” “If You’ve Got the Money I’ve Got the Time” and “Uncloudy Day.” One of Nelson’s shining moments came in 1978 when he partnered with Jennings on Waylon and Willie, their first duet together. The album gained popularity thanks to the signature song “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys.” Later in the year, he also issued Stardust, which was a collection of pop standards and included the tracks “Georgia on My Mind,” “Unchained Melody,” “Moonlight in Vermont” and “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.”
Nelson also had success in the ‘80s with his 1982 cover of Elvis Presley’s hit tune “Always on My Mind” and a duet with Latin pop star Julio Iglesias, called “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before.” He also teamed up with Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson to form the Highwaymen, although the supergroup really only spawned one notable hit of the same name.
After a lull in popularity during the latter part of the ‘80s, Nelson began to kick up steam again with the release of Across the Borderline, which featured contributions from Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, Sinead O’Conner, David Crosby and Kris Kristofferson. He continued his work in the studio and on stage through the 1990s and the 2000s.
The legendary crooner has merely dusted off his hat and carried on, something that we all can be thankful for.
Wallflowers Tickets- Red Letter Days
Jakob Dylan recently reflected on The Wallflowers and said his band is on a mission to make music. Get Wallflowers tickets and see a great band. The singer, songwriter, and guitarist continued to say that the band will take risks and have “records go left and right is all part of what I want us to be.” The musician added that there is a saying which says “it’s not a race, it’s a marathon.” He doesn’t feel anybody is in front of him or behind him, there is no finish line. The band will just keep going.
Indeed, the band has continued to keep going with their music. Their fourth album, Red Letter Days, was written while the group was in the midst of an extensive tour. Jakob, the son of legend Bob Dylan, said he needed a distraction from the road so he just started to write. He took advantage of his schedule and before he even knew it, the artist compiled a bunch of songs. Dylan woke up one day and realized The Wallflowers had a record. As the tour continued, the band seized the opportunity to document their fresh material. Keyboardist Rami Jaffee, bassist Greg Richling, drummer Mario Calire, and frontman Dylan recorded a series of demos in the dressing rooms, closets, arena loading docks, and even set up microphones in a shower.
When the band had a dozen original songs, they headed to the studio, where producer Tobias Miller and his partner Bill Appleberry assisted the guys in their project. Dylan said the key to Red Letter Days was to bring those two guys to the studio. He wanted to work with someone who understood him. Tobias has known Dylan since he was 10-years-old, while Bill believed in the songs The Wallflowers created and thought they were on to something. The band recorded their fourth album in a series of LA studios and Dylan found himself taking on more guitar duties than he did in the past. The band had the opportunity to work with guest guitarist Mike McCreasy from Pearl Jam.
Dylan stated that Mike just happened to be in town when the band was working on their album. The vocalist met mike a few times over the years, but said when it came to playing on the record he really showed how much he understood the dynamics of being in a band. Mike brought a lot to the table and The Wallflowers are grateful for it. Red Letter Days has a variety of moods. The album moves easily from the warm, “When You’re On Top” to the cool, piano-centered “Closer To You.” Other highlights include “Everybody Out Of The Water,” “Health And Happiness,” “Everything I Need,” and “Here In Pleasantville.”
Throughout the album, Dylan provides soothing vocal turns to his song. The musician said this has been the greatest year for him. He really tried to be hopeful in writing the songs for the album, something he admitted he hasn’t done in the past. The singer added that with any kind of music or art, you have the opportunity to put energy out there that’s going to be positive, and that’s exactly what the Wallflowers did with Red Letter Days.
Taylor Swift Tickets – She’s Just a Small Town Girl
After surprising tour mate Keith Urban with a sweet “kiss” on her final show with the headliner, Taylor Swift has moved on to less makeup but perhaps more drama, as she promotes the MTV Video Music Awards, singing her own rendition of the West Side Story’s “Tonight.” In a New York City yellow taxi cab, the blonde starlet screams out the tune to “Tonight” with lyrics that include a short plug for her own career (“they’ll be no teardrops on my guitar”) along with one for MTV (“Tonight where MTV’s brightest stars/Tonight, tonight I’ll sing my song tonight”). The tune could possibly put some interest in the country singer toward a Broadway role, as her dolled up figure complete with red lips and a shiny frock are just what http://www.stubhub.com/ needs to sell Taylor Swift tickets.
After headlining her own concert for most of the early summer, she returned to the top spot following nearly a month of performances with Keith Urban on August 9th for another two months on tour before she headed to the UK. Recently picking up two Teen Choice Awards, her best friends Abigail and Kellie Pickler (the latter who is also a tour mate) announced the wins while on stage during the song “I’m Only Me When I’m With You” via a poster “Taylor…You Just Won Two Teen Choice Awards.” Swift won the Choice Music: Female Artist award, claiming the surfboard over fellow teen act Miley Cyrus, as well as Lady GaGa, Katy Perry and Britney Spears. She also picked up Choice Music: Album Female Artist for Fearless, the set which finds Swift promoting around the globe this year.
Fearless appeared in November and spent 11 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, the tenth longest running album in Billboard chart history. After the release of only her sophomore album, and at only 19 years of age, the country singer from Nashville, Tennessee has a long road ahead of her. Not only that, but the album, just like her 2006 triple platinum selling debut, had Swift writing or co-writing all of her songs, tunes that encompassed the normal teen life she ensued prior to making it big (which included two years of “messing up my locker combination and going to football games and participating in gym class even though I have no coordination,” she says via her MySpace page). Selling over 2.4 million as of late, Swift topped another record with the sophomore set when she had seven songs from Fearless on the Billboard Hot 100, tying Hannah Montana with the most singles on a Billboard chart by a female artist in a single week.
It was only three years ago that Swift released her first hit single, “Tim McGraw” to country music stations, a tune that made it to the sixth spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart just a few months after the eponymous debut appeared in October. A country girl at heart, Swift grew up listening to her opera singing grandmother, Shania Twain, and of course, McGraw, before her supportive parents saw the talent blooming following participation in a children’s theater group and comedy preview. Also dedicated to her work, Swift found a comprising record deal at Big Machine Records following a Bluebird Café performance.
