Springsteen, Joel playing Obama benefit

Is there a working musician not playing a benefit supporting presidential candidate Barack Obama? Seems like they’re all out in force, from the Decemberists to will.i.am and Jay-Z. But probably the biggest celeb musicians going to bat for the Illinois senator are Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel. Reuters is reporting they’re playing a joint concert in New York on Oct. 16 with Obama in attendance.

A number of other artists have fundraisers going on for Obama’s campaign, but most have been relatively smaller name indie-rock bands. Reuters points out that the McCain campaign’s celebrity supporters include Sylvester Stallone and Robert Duvall, but so far there hasn’t been a major musical celebrity to throw a show in support the Republican candidate’s campaign.

No matter which side of the fence you fall on, Billy Joel tickets are a must for anyone who grew up listening to his music. Get concert tickets at Stubhub.com.
