Red Hot Chili Peppers to Reunite This Fall!!!

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith may be busy with the debut release of his instrumental side project, Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats, and another Chickenfoot tour, but he tells Billboard.com that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are making a comeback this fall. Explaining that what the Chili Peppers intended to be a one-year break after touring in support of 2005’s Stadium Arcadium turned into four, Smith says, “That’s the plan. Everybody was like, Y’Know, I really like having this time off, not being a Chili Pepper and doing other things … It’ll be two years in September, so now we’re ready. You can’t force people to play when they don’t to play or aren’t ready play or whatever – not in our band, anyway.”

Smith revealed to Billboard.com that he is expecting bassist Flea and guitarist John Frusciante to come up with some ideas for a new Chili Peppers album but said the band would likely “do a lot of improvising and jamming and songs will come out of that, too. That’s what we usually do. I don’t know why it would be different. Although Rick Rubin “always ends up being the guy … But we haven’t discussed it,” Smith said the Chili Peppers haven’t nailed down a release date year or talked about who will produce their album.
