Radiohead video director Michel Gondry lists his favorite 25 music vids

The video for “Knives Out” is a weird one. Most directors who attempt to “film” a nightmare or fever dream usually make it contrived, throwing a lot of crazy images on screen and proclaiming it surreal. Michel Gondry’s video actually feels like a dream, with Thom Yorke at the center of it. It’s certainly strange, but the persistent anxiety in the video fits perfectly with the song. The best part is undoubtedly at about 1:40, when Yorke looks under the covers of his bed and sees a family seated around a table, eating his body, apparently.

Regardless, if you’re a fan of Gondry’s brilliant visions, you should see Entertainment Weekly’s compilation of his 25 favorite music videos. There’s some similarly awesome picks, including Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer,” which never gets old.
