Kid Rock learns a valuable lesson (because it’s a legal obligation)

Apparently Kid Rock is sounding off after being sentenced to 80 hours of community sentence as punishment for getting into a scuffle at a Georgia Waffle House. But he’s not angry about being sentenced to community service, or even to 80 hours of it. He’s upset that he can’t choose the way he serves that 80 hours. An AP story about Rock says his Web site hosts a blog post about wanting to perform for troops in Iraq—something he has done in the past, and plans to do in the near future.

The judge’s thinking was that, as this is something Kid Rock (also known as Robert Ritchie) would have done whether he was assigned to community service or not, it’s not quite punishment. He seems to have a point. But the story also mentions that after the Waffle House brawl, he went back to a different Waffle House and raised $20,000 for a homeless shelter in Atlanta.

He should have suggested that one to the judge—it would have counted as some serious community service.

Regardless, Kid Rock tickets are now available (whether they’re for a community service show or not isn’t known). Get concert tickets at StubHub.com.
