Wavves has a new video out
San Diego garage-punk sensation Wavves has a video out for his song “No Hope Kids,” a paean to having nothing—no job, no money, no girlfriend—and, we’d like to think, feeling content. It’s a great song, capturing that slacker surfer vibe he condenses so well, and the video isn’t bad either. It’s a pretty simple one. It’s just images of Nathan Williams—the chief vocalist and talent in Wavves—as he tours around, smoking, drinking and playing guitar. Stereogum has the new video up, adding a few words, of course, about his breakdown (or whatever it was) from about a month back, which is apparently also attracting the ire of other indie rock bands now.
If you haven’t seen Wavves live yet, you really should. He’s still touring in America, though there’s only a few dates left. Two happen in to be this month, in New York and Chicago (the Chicago date is at the fantastic Pitchfork Music Festival). The final date is in Williams’ hometown of San Diego, where he will be playing Street Scene. If you’re looking for concert tickets to one of his shows, grab them off StubHub soon, before they all sell out!
