Guns ’N’ Roses ’N’ Dr. Pepper
So there you are, blissfully rocking out to Chinese Democracy (unless you’re a Pitchfork writer—apparently the verdict was decidedly negative on that site), thinking all is finally right in the world. But there’s still a spot of turbulence for GNR, and it’s coming to them with a PhD. Dr. Pepper, the soda company that famously offered everyone in America a free can of pop if Chinese Democracy ever came out—apparently expecting, like everyone else did, that it never would—has been the target of much Internet hate because many people did not get their Dr. Pepper.
They did offer an online coupon for Dr. Pepper for 24 hours, but were so overwhelmed, according to CNN, that the company’s site crashed. Pitchfork notes they extended the coupon retrieval period, and even added a toll-free line. But even that wasn’t enough, and now GNR fans (or possibly Dr. Pepper fans) are blaming Axl Rose for all this.
Axl, of course, is only guilty of procrastination. Still, he’s ordered his lawyers to pressure Dr. Pepper to calm the fans before they go tearing through the streets, rioting and looting until they acquire the sweet, sweet taste of Dr. Pepper.
Is this all a little too much? Yes. But fans can still be content with concert tickets to a live show. Get Guns ’N’ Roses tickets now at StubHub.com.
