Google takes searching for music to a new level
Google seems to own the Internet these days, and probably will for years to come. They’re ensuring that by constantly introducing new, nifty search functions and tools that are practical and actually help people do things, from the Google Books project to the many statistics you can look up through Google Labs. But their newest function is searching for music. Pitchfork has the skinny, noting that Google is going to be adding a music-specific search function so that people can look up bands or songs and find their way to free music faster. That’s going to include directing them to services like Lala or iLike, where people will be able to listen a bit and possibly go on from there by making a purchase.
Pitchfork has a little mini-post about it up today, with this informative paragraph: “The music-player links pop up based on band name, song title, or even lyrics—though we just tried typing in ‘what’s a goon to a goblin’ and Lil Wayne’s ‘A Milli’ did not come up. Make it happen, Google!”
Sounds like a pretty cool new feature. And when you’ve found a band you love, you can go to StubHub for concert tickets.
