David Byrne, other artists appearing on new Fat Boy Slim record
Like most techno artists, Fatboy Slim has been no stranger to blending samples of other artists into his work. But his new album doesn’t just feature samples—it features a bevy of artists themselves.
Fatboy Slim’s real name is Quentin Cook, though he’s known largely as Norman Cook. On his new album, he’s working under the name of the Brighton Port Authority—which is almost as awesome as the name of the album, I Think We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat. Aside from the obvious Jaws reference, Cook’s cheeky humor includes rounding up artists as diverse as Iggy Pop, Dizzee Rascal, Martha Wainwright, and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne. The video for Byrne and Cook’s collaboration, “Toe Jam,” is a not so safe for work ’70s style strip/dance party, available at Pitchfork for those not offended by black censoring bars and feathered hair.
Byrne himself is still on his own tour, and concert tickets are still available in quickly decreasing supplies. Get your own David Byrne tickets at StubHub.com.
