Bloc Party album review
AllMusic.com has gotten around to writing a review of Bloc Party’s newest full-length, Intimacy. It looks like the band isn’t dropping any of its hallmarks—the jangly guitars and Kele Okereke’s shouted vocals, for example, or the sighing-lover lyrics—but they are moving into a very interesting direction. Their straight-forward post-punkish rock music is slowly transforming into a beat-heavy mesh of electronica and rock, as featured on the record’s single, “Mercury.”
Other tracks, according to the review, show off this new electronic experimentation even more forcefully. “Prayer” and “Ares” are too standout tracks with “pummeling drums,” says the reviewer, “the likes of which haven’t been heard since the days of Chemical Brothers and Prodigy.” That comparison will doubtlessly make or break your interest in the record.
If you were hoping to hear the band perform some of these new songs live, concert tickets are still available. Just head over to Stubhub.com and get yourself some Bloc Party tickets.
