Beatles video game coming out

Brace yourselves for this one. Kotaku.com notes that the Beatles music has been licensed for a new video game. Apparently the sources in question emphasized that this isn’t Rock Band or Rock Band 2 we’re talking about here. It’s a whole new game, though it is similar in the sense that it’s based around “performing” music from the Beatles catalog.

Harmonix is the company that makes the Rock Band games, and they’re obviously very well respected in the industry right now. With that reputation preceding them, Apple Corps. and MTV teamed up with Harmonix to create the exclusive game. There don’t appear to be a whole lot of details as of now—just that you’ll “play” through the band’s entire cataloge, from their first record to their last. Here’s an interesting quote on Kotaku: “Visual exploration of the Beatles will be a big part of the game, though they were not prepared to discuss more on that at this time.”

This is, frankly, a quirky idea for a video game. Still, if it’s done well, it could be very cool. We’ll just have to wait and see as more details emerge.

While you can’t see the band itself, you can see one of the best tributes to them on Earth by getting Fab Faux tickets. Concert tickets can be found at StubHub.com.
