An interview with ’Mr. Geeky and Mr. Egghead’

Rolling Stone has a fabulous interview with former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne and long-established producer Brian Eno. As we’ve countless times reminded you on this blog, the two have reunited for the first time in three decades to release a new album, composed of “beds,” or backgrounds of electronic texture that Eno had never got around to writing songs for.

Here’s a neat little anecdote to come out of the interview: Apparently, after offering it to Byrne, Eno never heard back from him. So, being the producer of Coldplay’s last record, he let Chris Martin have a go. Martin loved the idea, and sent Eno an mp3 of his work—the same day that Byrne finally got back with his own take of the song. Martin heard it and respectfully stood down. It was simply too good.

Hoping to hear the new record performed live? You’ll need concert tickets to a special tour, sadly sans Eno. David Byrne tickets are available at Stubhub.com.
