Elton John enjoys the success of Billy Elliot

Billy Elliot has won plenty of admirers since the movie came out in 2000. With it’s glam-rock soundtrack, the story about a lower-caste English boy who discovers his true calling is ballet has become a classic. It’s circle of fans includes the legendary rock musician Elton John—who was so inspired by the struggle at the center of the story that he created a Broadway musical adapted from the movie.

Now, both musical and John are the toast of the Great White Way. Tickets are selling fast for the show, and its creator—who admitted to the AP that he’s a “novice” at this—is enjoying the limelight and possibly thinking about continuing the line of work: “John, accompanied by partner David Furnish, said he’d rather write a musical than record an album because he likes having a story line and characters.”

With some luck, fans will have more shows to see from this elder statesmen of rock. Of course, those who still love his music can get concert tickets to that, as well. Elton John tickets are available at StubHub.com.

Kanye West under arrest in U.K.?

Kanye has attracted quite a bit of attention in music mags and tabloids in the past for his temper (AND HIS TYPING!!!!). But it sounds like he might have gotten himself in real trouble after getting into an altercation in England. After playing a show in New Castle the other night, West visited the Tup Tup Palace bar. Yahoo News is citing other media sources, who claim that while there he got into a fight with a photographer. There’s some confusion over the incident because British police do not name individuals who haven’t been charged with a crime—but they did tell the media that a 31-year-old man was arrested.

If it was Kanye, it wouldn’t be a surprise. He was arrested in Los Angeles a short time ago after getting into a fight with a paparazzi there, though he was not charged in that incident either. To be fair, it doesn’t seem that uncommon for celebs to get into shoving matches with paparazzi. Maybe it’s the constant invasion of privacy that gets to them once in a while.

In any case, hopefully this won’t interrupt Kanye’s upcoming touring schedule for his new album. Concert tickets are going to be hot for this one. When you go looking for your own pair of Kanye West tickets, stop by StubHub.com first.

Motley Crue to Hit the Road

Motley Crue is slated to hit the road as a follow-up tour to this summer’s Crue Fest amphitheater tour with a North American arena jaunt that will begin Feb. 2, 2009 at Cox Arena in San Diego and concludes March 18 at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine. Motley Crue will stop in over 25 cities on their upcoming tour, which will be supported by Hinder, Theory of a Deadman and the Last Vegas (this Windy City band just won the first Guitar Center On-Stage: Your Chance to Make Rock History contest).

The Saints of Los Angeles tour is being produced by Live Nation, although Guitar Center, American Express and Fuse will also be tour partners, and tickets will range from $25 to $75. Tenth Street Entertainment/Eleven Seven Music CEO Allen Kovac, who has been the band’s managers since 1994, told Billboard that Motley Crue plans on picking up where they left off with Crue Fest, saying, “These are the markets we didn’t play. Rock has always been a middle-of-the-country sport, and you have to go where your fans are.” After the North American leg of the tour wraps up in March, Motley Crue will travel to Europe to perform in June before returning to the states to tour from July through Septemer.

Roy Orbison: Not Lonely

Everyone remembers Kevin Bacon and six degrees of separation, which seemed sort of silly to begin with.  Well now a new name has been thrown into the mix: Roy Orbison.  The famed singer-songwriter has a brand new feature on his website where fans can enter their favorite artists to find six degrees, or in some cases, less, of separation between the acts and Orbison.

So you’re wondering how rap mongul 50 Cent is connected to the pioneer of rock ’n roll?  Well that’s easy…well…sort of of.  50 was taught when he was a youngster how to write music by Jam Master Jay of Run DMC.  Run DMC then collaborated with Aerosmith on one of their songs, Aerosmith, in the minds of many were the Americans answer to the Rolling Stones, the Rolling Stones were well known rivals of the Beatles and the Beatles opened for Roy Orbison on his 1963 tour in England.  So there you have it…Roy Orbison=50 Cent.  Well okay…not really, but it’s fun to try!  Check out Stubhub.com to get tickets for any upcoming concert!
