Byrne and Eno releasing an album together
More news about David Byrne’s upcoming tour, which will feature the music he collaborated on with Brian Eno, but not the collaborator himself. It came as a disappointment for Byrne and Eno fans, but especially Eno fans, who rarely have had the opportunity to see the man perform live. The best chance to do that was back in the early ’70s, when he was touring with Roxy Music.
Apparently, though, a new collaboration is ready for the public. It’s expected to be self-released later this year, the first time Eno and Byrne have worked together since 1981’s My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. The electronic and musical wizardry both profess have always made their music exciting. Fans of both artists would pay out the nose to get concert tickets.

Fergie to appear in Daniel Day-Lewis film
Daniel Day-Lewis has to be riding high right now. With the success of There Will Be Blood, his naturally intense performances are getting massive mainstream recognition. You can bet there will be plenty of fans looking forward to his next film, Nine, which features the English actor as an Italian director who struggles to balance his attention between all the women in his life.
One of them, apparently, will be Black Eyed Peas singer and successful pop star in her own right Fergie. It looks like Fergie is slowly but surely becoming a stronger presence at the movies. She started out in acting, appearing on a Nickelodeon music show, Kids Incorporated, as well as Married…With Children. More recently, she appeared in Robert Rodriguez’ half of Grindhouse and Poisedion.

Kevin Shields/Patti Smith collaboration: A review
If you’ve been keeping up with this blog, you know that Kevin Shields, vocalist and guitarist for My Bloody Valentine, and punk-poet Patti Smith have recently released a collaborative effort. The album, called The Coral Sea, is a series of musical poems about photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, who Smith roomed with when younger. The record is about who he was as a man and artist, and describes his tragic death from AIDS in emotional terms.
The A.V. Club reviewed it earlier in the week, and now Pitchfork has taken a crack at it as well. Pitchfork being what they are, the review is much longer and detailed, but also gives more history on the development of the album. There’s more lyrics quoted as well–”He liked to work/ He liked to feel/ He didn’t like to think/ He didn’t have to talk.”
