With Motley Crue releasing their first album in more than a decade, there’s a resurgence of interest–and affection–for this hard-living band. On Yahoo News, there’s an interesting look at the band that helped define the no-holds-barred lifestyle of the hair metal scene in the 1980s. Riding down the Sunset Strip in their leather clothes and mops of straggly hair, you can be sure they were a fearsome sight back in the in the ’80s. But they still haven’t lost the power to shock, impress and get fans rockin’.
They’re currently on tour, visiting more than 40 cities with numerous other metal bands, including Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt, and Sixx: AM, a side project of Motley Crue’s bassist, Nikki Sixx. How long will concert tickets to this amazing tour last? The second hand is clicking away.
If you’re looking for Motley Crue tickets, you can buy (or sell) them at Stubhub.com.
For those of us east of the Atlantic, Eurovision might be a uniquely foreign concept. The annual music contest has gone on for decades. Basically, participating European countries enter a band or musical artist to represent them, and all the viewers from participating countries across Europe vote for the best. It’s not known for being the most exciting event to watch on television–at best, according to the guys in Sigur Ros, it’s a guilty pleasure.
But guilty pleasures can be inspirational, apparently. In an interview with the Guardian, the Icelandic band said that it was fodder for their current hit single, “Gobbledigook.”
“We wrote [Gobbledigook] on the night of the Eurovision song contest,” lead singer Jonsí Birgisson explained to the Sun. “We were in a rented farmhouse, it was a long evening, we watched the whole contest, and afterwards our brains were so fried we had to write Gobbledigook.”
You can hear the single performed live if you get Sigur Ros tickets. Concert tickets can be bought or sold at Stubhub.com.
With the recent news that Radiohead was releasing all of its albums on digital download service iTunes, there comes better news from Pitchfork. The online music magazine reports that both Radiohead and Coldplay are reissuing their respective canons on vinyl. For those old fashioned music fans who love to show off the improved sound quality of vinyl, this is your chance to rebuild your music collection.
While it’s a niche market, it’s a pretty smart idea for bands to issue vinyl releases. It’s not only a way to please hardcore fans–it’s a way to attract larger sums of money, as well. With artists constantly looking for new ways to preserve their earnings now that digital downloading is rampant, offering music listeners a way to get a premium item (for a premium price) gives them a buffer on any illegal downloading losses.
In any case, Radiohead fans should be thrilled. Radiohead tickets, along with other concert tickets, are available at Stubhub.com.
