B. Raphael - Spanish singer.
Rafael Martos Sánchez, worldwide as Raphael, is one of the best known singers from Spain. His wide-range voice, added to his flamboyant stage personna has entertained and engaged people worldwide for more than four decades. He is also a movie and television actor. He is the father of Spanish movie director Jacobo Martos.
Raphael is known for acting each one of his songs while onstage, sometimes exaggerating his mannerisms for dramatic effect. He also possesses a wide vocal range, which he often used in the beginning of his career as to evoke a choirboy approach to some songs.
He was known once for being superstitious about never going onstage without at least a black shirt on (and, most often, dressed entirely in black, a la Johnny Cash). He has not been consistent with this, but he does go onstage dressed in black quite often.
Raphael's health faced a major setback in 2003, when his liver started failing due to a latent bout with Hepatitis C; he recovered successfully after a transplant. Since then he is an active organ donation promoter.
His record company, Hispavox, awarded him with an "Uranium Disc" for his album "Ayer, Hoy, Siempre" due to the impossibility of giving him 300 platinum discs - the Spanish equivalent of his 50 million record selling.
Raphaël - FRENCH SINGER
Raphaël Haroche (born 7 November 1975 in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, France) is a French singer who performs under the name Raphaël. His father is Russian and his mother is from Argentina. He began his public career with the song "Sur la route" (On the road), a duet with Jean-Louis Aubert. His current partner is Mélanie Thierry (actress and model).
With two albums already to his credit, young French singer-songwriter Raphael released his third album - 'Caravane' earlier this year. Many observers expect this new album to propel Raphael into the realms of French pop stardom.
The title track 'Caravane' was released as a single a few months ago and with its dreamy melody, gently driving rhythm, intricate guitar and Raphael's matchless vocals, 'Caravane' unsuprisingly became a huge hit in France.
RAPHAEL - JAPANESE ROCK BAND
Raphael were formed in 1998. They made their's debut in “花咲く命ある限り”(hana saku inochi aru kagiri). Their music was met with high praise by listeners. Sometimes, adopted the classics. After Kazuki's death, they were left with no other choice but to disband, such was the regard they had for their fallen bandmate. Even now, their tragic break-up is lamented by a large portion of their fan base.
YUKI and Hiro began a collaborative project named “rice”, while YUKITO went on to form "BLACK LOVE”.
