Kramer and Whitford Continue to Comment

The members of Aerosmith are still expressing their concern for frontman Steven Tyler, as well as speculating what the next step will be for the band. It seems like it is anyone’s guess what they will do next, but the members seem pretty sure about the problems plaguing Tyler.

According to Spinner, drummer Joey Kramer said, “Steven, he isolates more and more all the time…That’s what gives it away to me that there’s something going on. I don’t know what that is. I know he’s made some not so great choices and he’s got some negative influences around him now. I love the guy. I just want to see him get some help.”

Guitarist Brad Whitford weighed in on the next step for the band and said, “Hopefully, we’ll do something creative and push the boundaries of what we do, maybe make some new music, not just go out there and be, like, an Aerosmith cover band.”

Many news sources have suggested possibly replacements for Tyler, but the band will likely choose carefully. If they decide to go back on tour, you can get your pair of Aerosmith tickets from StubHub.

Kramer Gives His Take on Band

Nearly everyone else from the band has weighed in on the Tyler saga, so now it is drummer Joey Kramer’s turn. He had an interview with Classic Rock magazine, where he tackled everything from his feelings on Tyler to what the band would look for in a new frontman.

About Tyler, he said, “[Steven] wants to do what he wants to do. That’s great. I support him. I will always love him. I have always supported him … but we want to play too. I can’t sit around for two years and not play my drums — or not function as a band.”

Who could they get to replace Tyler? Kramer didn’t name names, but he did give this description, “There’s a difference between a singer and what I call a frontman or a performer. Luckily for us, Steven is both of those and probably the best out there. If he chooses to go pursue a solo career for a while, then it would have to be somebody that can in my opinion have to do both — that would have to be able to perform the songs as well as sing them.”

Whitford Speculates Tyler Using Again

What is going on with Steven Tyler? Fans and music insiders are speculating, but it seems as if the band members have been left guessing as well. Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford recently talked with The Pulse of Radio and said his suspicion is Tyler is dealing with some old demons.

Whitford said, “This guy has a tremendous history of drug abuse, and you have to be suspicious that this is something that is probably going on with him. I think that that’s got to be a part of this irrational behavior, you know. You’re supposed to — people in recovery and stuff, if you’re really doing it, it takes a lot of work. Historically or statistically, the majority of people in that situation don’t make it. I have a feeling we might be looking at, you know, someone who’s just really struggling very badly with this.”

Whitford is reflecting the same speculation that cropped up when Tyler fell off of a stage in South Dakota—the same fall that forced the band to cancel their popular tour. Tyler has refuted the rumors, and fans will probably find out the truth soon as this type of struggle is difficult to hide for long. When they go back on tour, get Aerosmith tickets from StubHub.

Fans Compile List of Possible Replacements

Well, if fans are to take Joe Perry’s word, frontman Steven Tyler is planning on taking two years off from the band. Also, the rest of the band wants to play together. If both of those things are to happen, it would mean that Aerosmith would need a new frontman for the time being. Rolling Stone had readers vote on who should replace Tyler, and fans came up with a pretty good list of the Top Five replacements for him.

At the top of the list was Josh Todd from Buckcherry. He knows what it is like to front a rock band, and could add energy to Aerosmith. Behind him, number two was David Johansen from the New York Dolls. Number three was David Lee Roth, and number four was Iggy Pop. Many fans compared American Idol hopeful Adam Lambert to Tyler during the competition, and he was ranked fifth on the replacement list.

There is no word yet on how the search is going for a new frontman, or, for that matter, if the band is truly searching for a Tyler replacement. If they are, fans have come up with a pretty good list of options. Catch them live with Aerosmith tickets from StubHub.

Perry Refutes Rumors

With everything happening with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and the rest of the band, rumors are bound to crop up. That atmosphere of speculation seems to have hit guitarist Joe Perry’s solo project, the Joe Perry Project, as well. Rumors came up that the Joe Perry Project was canceling tour dates around the country. Perry took to his Twitter account to refute the rumors and posted these three comments on his page:

“Just got a call from Aaron saying bad rumors going around that I am canceling the JPP tour totally NOT TRUE. This is a vicious rumor.”

“JPP is not canceling the tour. It’s going strong. We are In process of adding dates the end Jan throughout Canada in Jan too.”

“Please RT Bad Rumor JPP is Not canceling the tour it’s going strong and we are having a blast. Even adding Jan dates.”

Until Aerosmith goes back on tour again, the Joe Perry Project is the closest that Aerosmith fans can get to seeing their favorite band live. Luckily, band members from Aerosmith have been known to make guest appearances on JPP’s tour. When they finally go back on tour together, get your Aerosmith tickets from StubHub.

Perry to Play Casino on Valentine’s Day

In a break from Steven Tyler drama, Perry has booked a date for Valentine’s day, and it isn’t with his wife Billie. Instead, Perry will be at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe South Shore Room to play for adoring fans. The February 14th show is sure to bring in many fans who love both Perry’s solo work as well as the work of Aerosmith. Perry is one of many stars in the lineup of performers coming to the casino. Others include Chubby Checker and MC Hammer.

The casino’s director of entertainment, John Packer, said, “By and large we did very well with a wide variety of music. So when we started thinking about 2010 we thought that was a pretty good formula… We found a groove as far as types of entertainment to provide. During the 50th year it was mix it up with the classic entertainers and comedians and the ones who had a history with Harrah’s and the South Shore Room along with some newcomers who had played recently and also some new acts. It’s interesting to see different types of crowds.”

Is Tyler In or Out?

Just when it seemed like Aerosmith had finally cleared the air and decided to move on without frontman Steven Tyler, Tyler emerges to refute the report. On Tuesday, Tyler surprised everyone—including Joe Perry—when he showed up at one of Perry’s solo concerts and took the stage with Joe. While on stage, he said, “New York, I want you to know I’m not leaving Aerosmith.”

Not so fast, though. Perry later spoke to Rolling Stone and indicated that Tyler wouldn’t be back on stage with Aerosmith any time soon. He said, “He wants to take two years off from the band. The rest of the band wants to keep on working. We have so many different options to fill up that time. Anything is possible at this point. Basically, any communication that we’ve had over the last couple of months has been through managers, so that’s been pretty strange.”

Right now, it seems to be anyone’s guess what will be Aerosmith’s next step. Tyler could decide he wants to return to make a new album with the band, or he could embark on a solo career. The other band members seem determine to move forward either way. Once they go back on tour, get your Aerosmith tickets from StubHub.

Aerosmith Definitely in Market for New Frontman

When guitarist Joe Perry commented on frontman Steven Tyler leaving, he talked more about the current band than replacing Tyler, but now he has made it clear that they will be searching out a new lead singer. Perry revealed on his Twitter account, “Aerosmith is definitely NOT breaking up… Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can’t take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin! The band is playing hotter than ever and our songs need to be played live! Don’t despair; Aerosmith is not splitting up. Promise that’s the last you’ll hear from me on the subject till we gear up again.”

He also said of Tyler, “I kind of got the hint that he pretty much wants to be alone and wants to do his own thing. As long as we’re still kicking, it’s not over. We’ll probably get bored and come back.”

Relations with Tyler and the rest of the band had been strained for awhile, and Perry had revealed many details of problems with Tyler over the last several months, including Tyler’s refusal to write with Perry. Perry Reveals Tyler is Out

The rumors seem to be spot on, as Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry revealed over the weekend that frontman Steven Tyler appears to have left the band. Guitarist Brad Whitford made similar statements last week, but Tom Hamilton said he didn’t think Tyler was leaving. Perry seemed convinced when he told the Las Vegas Sun, “Steven quit as far as I can tell… [He] has had no contact with me or the other band members.”

Perry also said, “Right now I’m adjusting to how we’re going to go on. Aerosmith is such a powerful band, I mean it’s like a steam locomotive. You just can’t disregard 40 years of four guys who play together as well as they do. As far as replacing Steve, it’s not just about that, it’s also four guys that play extremely well together, and I’m not going to see that go to waste. I really don’t know what path it’s going to take at this point, but we’ll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we need a singer.”

This is sure going to be a different chapter in Aerosmith’s story. If they decide to go back on tour soon, with or without a new singer, get your Aerosmith tickets from StubHub.

Band Downplays Replacement Rumor

Yesterday, the music world was abuzz with reports that Aerosmith could be replacing frontman Steven Tyler, but it seems that report was a little hasty. The speculation came from guitarist Brad Whitford comments, but fellow band member Tom Hamilton said to the Track, “We’re always full of troubles, trials and tribulations. But somewhere in the back of everyone’s mind is the knowledge that the only way to get something like the unbelievable experience we just had in Abu Dhabi is as this band.”

He also dismissed Whitford’s comments by joking, “They must have gotten Brad before his coffee or something.”

About the rift between Tyler and the rest of the band, Hamilton revealed that, “Steven’s always mad at us.” He also stated that it was Tyler’s feelings that would dictate the timeline of a new Aerosmith album, as he said, “I guess we’ve got to wait until he’s not mad at us. There’s still a lot of love left but for some reason he’s not very happy with the rest of us. Maybe he’s just too used to people jumping to his agenda.”

It seems like the Bad Boys from Boston may be okay after all. Once they kiss and make up, get your Aerosmith tickets from StubHub.
