AC/DC Rocks Orlando

AC/DC wrapped up their tour of the States last night in Orlando, Florida, and fans couldn’t seem to get enough of their hard-hitting rock. For the States, they will be playing one date in San Juan, Puerto Rico before heading to South America. Of course, their show received rave reviews from critics in Orlando.

The critic from the Daily Loaf couldn’t say enough positive things about the show, and finished with, “But while fans will speculate on the band’s future, they’ll also remember this recent show as a success, and relive the moments stored on digital cameras and cell phones that were waving and flashing throughout the night. If they turn out to be the last memories of AC/DC playing in Florida, at least they’ll be good ones.”

The band plays all of the fan favorites at their show, and they have quite the selection to choose from. Over the years, they have released singles like “High Voltage,” “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” “Highway to Hell,” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Hell’s Bells,” “Thunderstruck” and “Big Gun.” When they make it back to a venue near you, get your AC/DC tickets from StubHub.

Backtracks Wows Fans and Critics

Not long ago, AC/DC released their collectors box set Backtracks, and fans from all over are rushing out to get this amazing collection. It also comes with a working amp, making it a one-of-a-kind purchase for all AC/DC fans. BlogCritics reviewed the boxed set, and fans will be happy to find out that the set is even better than expected.

The review stated, “A lot of times, sets like these seem to promise the moon, and wind up delivering substantially less. Backtracks is very much an exception to this rule as there are some real gems here that are just waiting to be discovered…There really is something for every AC/DC fan on Backtracks. I am happy to report that some really worthy material was pulled out of the vaults for this one, giving fans of all types something to look forward to.”

The band has a large collection of hits, so filling a boxed set is no problem for this hit band. This boxed set offers an inside look to many favorites as well as the band’s tour. Of course, that is nothing like actually seeing them live in concert. Get your AC/DC tickets from StubHub.

Johnson Reveals Love for Driving

They may be lumped into one band, but the members of AC/DC each have their own interests. For frontman Brian Johnson, one of his most well-documented obsessions—other than great rock music, of course—is cars. In fact, he recently revealed that his favorite place to drive his cars is in Scotland. He told Deadline, “I love driving about up there, I used to go up a lot to Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, but you know my favourite place now? Melrose in the Borders. Driving around there is fabulous, it’s beautiful. “

Johnson also went on to talk about the band playing in Glasgow recently and said, “I swear to God the hairs on the back of my arms stood up and my old ticker was twitching like a rabbit’s nose.”

Johnson, of course, was the replacement for the late Bon Scott when Scott passed away in the early 1980s. Johnson doesn’t feel like he has to compete with Scott’s legacy and instead embraces it. He said, “It’s brilliant that people remember Bon 30 years on. I met him once and he was one of those cool souls.”

AC/DC Tribute Has Unique Draw

With their legendary status as rock icons, AC/DC has had a lot of tribute bands crop up over the years. A fan favorite is named after one of their biggest hits, “Thunderstruck.” Thunderstruck has something in common with the real Acca Dacca, as they are also from Australia. That doesn’t necessarily make them unique as their drummer Steve Mitchelmore revealed to the Whittlesea Leader, “If you go to any major city around Australia you’re likely to find at least one AC/DC cover band. The trick is to offer something that the other bands can’t.”

Thunderstruck does just that with their frontman Brendan Vernal. Not only can Vernal sound exactly like AC/DC’s current frontman Brian Johnson, he can also alter his voice to match that of the band’s original vocalist, Bon Scott.

Mitchelmore also revealed that their talent drew the attention of AC/DC’s original bassist, Mark Evans, who decided to perform with the group. He said, “We did a few shows with Mark, who was AC/DC’s bassist until 1977 and had a hand in a lot of the early hits, at the Hi-Fi Bar a couple of years ago.”

Of course, seeing Thunderstruck can’t match seeing the real thing in concert, so get your AC/DC tickets from StubHub.

AC/DC Impresses El Paso

Over the weekend, the legendary rockers of AC/DC played in El Paso, Texas, at the Don Haskins Center. Like other Acca Dacca concerts, fans showed up in droves to cheer on their favorite rock icons. And in true AC/DC form, the members of the band didn’t disappoint. Also like their other shows, reviews came back raving about their unstoppable concert.

A reviewer at the El Paso Times wrote, “The band was on fire from the start, following a suggestive animated video intro with a piledriving version of ‘Rock ‘N Roll Train,’ one of four songs from last year’s Black Ice album, for which the tour is named. The quintet steamrolled through the first third of the show, led by the avuncular Johnson, who looked every bit the dock worker in jeans, black sleeveless shirt and a cap, and live-wire Angus, still duckwalking and rockin’ that schoolboy outfit at age 54, all the while making faces that resembled an out-of-water fish gasping for air.”

They only have a couple of days left on their North American tour before they bring their rocking shows to other countries. See them live in concert by getting AC/DC tickets from StubHub.

More On Melbourne Display

For fans in Australia who were thinking about going to see the AC/DC exhibit at the Melbourne Art Centre, curator Tim Fisher has revealed even more reasons to attend. The exhibit is called AC/DC: Australia’s Family Jewels. Fisher also says that those who aren’t necessarily die-hard will still want to check out the exhibit, simply because of their contribution to the music scene. Fisher said, “AC/DC is viewed by some people as a bit downmarket. Many people would not like to admit it but ... by a long way, AC/DC is Australia’s most influential performing groups. No other performing artist has that sort of profile or public presence.”

Fisher also revealed that there are some one-of-a-kind pieces as part of the exhibition. He said, “Mrs. Scott, Bon Scott’s mother, has kindly lent us some much-treasured material including photos and Bon Scott’s passport. A few years ago she gave us his last leather jacket. We sought the band’s stage cannon; had it brought over from the States.”

The exhibit also features clips from performances and much, much more. Of course, seeing concert clips doesn’t rival actually seeing them in concert. Catch them live by getting AC/DC tickets from StubHub.

El Paso Rock Fans Ready for AC/DC

This Sunday, AC/DC will be playing in El Paso, Texas, and fans around the area couldn’t be more excited. In fact, the 9,000 tickets available for the show at the Don Haskins Center were gone only four hours after they went on sale. Anyone who knows the music scene in El Paso wasn’t surprised about the popularity of the tickets, because fans in the area love rock, but most bands don’t sell out that quickly.

Anthony Bozza, who wrote the recent book about the band Why AC/DC Matters, revealed why he thinks people love seeing AC/DC live. He said, “One thing that’s so amazing about them is — as classic rock bands age, they always start adding players to round out the sound. You see the Rolling Stones now and they have a little pack of backup singers on one side, and a guy who plays guitar on a couple of things. That’s not the case with AC/DC. It’s just them. They do it all by themselves. To see them do it and see Angus run around and sweat literally 3 pounds of body weight at 54 is pretty incredible.”

Fans Want AC/DC to Change Setlist?

The Australian rockers AC/DC pride themselves on putting on one of the most celebrated rock shows out there. One group of fans, though, is pressing for Acca Dacca to change their setlist. The letter to the band members was posted on the fan site http://www.acdcfans.net. The statement wasn’t so much that they didn’t like the songs AC/DC played, but rather that there are other songs they want to hear as well.

A portion of the letter read, “We absolutely appreciate every song you play, but we can’t help but wonder if the band is getting a little bored of playing the same songs night after night… As the greatest band on Earth, we think it is a travesty that you are not playing songs that are dear to yourselves and your long term loyal fans - the songs from albums that critics wrote off, but which we both know are some of the finest from your back catalogue. So, we’d like you to consider changing the setlist. We won’t be rude and say ‘play this’ or ‘don’t play that’ - we’ll leave it to you to decide - surprise us!”

Who knows, maybe AC/DC will throw in a new song at their show when you get AC/DC tickets from StubHub.

AC/DC’s Texas Shows Impress Fans

Over the weekend, AC/DC played two dates in Texas, the first in Austin on Friday and the second in Houston on Sunday, following a date earlier in the week in Dallas. In true Acca Dacca fashion, all of the shows received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. For fans of AC/DC, nothing compares to seeing these legendary rockers live in concert.

A reviewer at the Star Telegram wrote, “But the near-capacity crowd, which featured both old and young, jumped and sang when Johnson’s raw and grinding voice belted out ‘Back in Black,’ ‘Thunderstruck,’ ‘Shoot to Thrill,’ ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ and ‘Highway to Hell.’ And when Young went into a soaring 10-minute guitar solo during ‘Let There Be Rock,’ it was the ideal time for extended applause. In an industry where unique sounds are so difficult to find and success is defined by a good song or two, AC/DC has been doing this since 1973. The Aussies’ riff-o-rama sound is theirs and theirs alone, and when Johnson finished the night with ‘For Those About to Rock,’ it seemed as if the audience was indeed saluting them.”

The band is finishing up their dates in North America before heading overseas for more dates. Their 2010 dates include a return to their home country, Australia. Catch them before they leave by getting your AC/DC tickets from StubHub.

Melbourne Features AC/DC Exhibit

Australia is sure proud that their rockers, AC/DC, are one of the most well-respected bands in all of rock. So much so, in fact, that the Melbourne Art Centre will be holding an exhibition featuring AC/DC memorabilia called “AC/DC Family Jewels.” The extensive collection has everything from the band’s costumes to their notebooks, concert footage, stage props and much, much more.

According to Undercover.com.au, the curator for the exhibition, Tim Fisher, said, “There is little doubt that after 35 years on the world stage AC/DC are by far Australia’s most successful and influential performing artists. AC/DC Australia’s Family Jewels seeks to link the material history of the band to the experience of their music. The exhibition will also try to convey – both through exhibited material and an interactive online initiative – the place that AC/DC holds for their devoted fans.”

The members of AC/DC aren’t the only artists to receive such an honor at the Melbourne Art Centre. AC/DC’s display is one of a series of exhibitions, called the Art Centre’s Icon exhibition series. Others to have exhibitions include Skyhooks, Kylie and Nick Cave. Of course, it is even better seeing them live, so get your AC/DC tickets from StubHub.
